Demidova Y. - Models of social integration of the example of Anastasian ecovillages Slavnoye and Kovcheg pp. 1-7

Abstract: The focus of this research is the uniting motives and their implementation in the aforementioned communities. The work is based on the hypothesis about the existence of the established collectivism in Anastasian communities. On one hand, it was formed by the common ideological field of Anastasianism, while on the other – the problem of spatial social remoteness of the material and social resources of a city, which served as motivation for integration of the former residents as the ideological congregations. The process of “unification” leans on the demarcation of common interests and practices of the collective mutualism. The key method is the in-depth interview. The author also applied the method on nonrandom sample, snowball sampling – the selection of respondents in accordance with the references of local residents. The material presents interest due to the abundance of field observation in fairly close communities of present time, as well as provides an idea about the actual relationship between its members. Ecovillages “Slavnoye” and “Kovcheg”, in essence, are the communities of collective type, uniting people with various religious preferences. Many of them are the adherers of the New Age movement, while others self-identify themselves outside the ideological context. They see their belonging in sharing the universal human values: neighborliness, ban of abusive language and alcohol, property insurance, healthy eating, obtainment of personal freedom from the imposed city stereotypes. In general, the integrative models are based on the practical mutual help of the community members, financial self-sufficiency (carrying out of holiday events, festivals, joint labor artels), as well as religious and leisure practices. However, even within the ideological commonwealth, exists and opinion about the lack of societality despite the common behavioral norms, as well as sharing of responsibilities and single cultural orientation.

Zhalsanova V.G. - Private farming of rural residents: means of survival or advancement? (Based on the materials of sociological research in the Republic Buryatia) pp. 1-7

Abstract: This article examines the role and functional importance of the private subsidiary farming in the life of Russian rural residents. Collectivization of agriculture conducted in 1930’s had significant in its scale consequences; first and foremost – the alienation of peasant population from land. Just a small private farmstead simply helped to survive and provide basic needs. The social and structural reforms of 1990’s in agricultural sector actualized private farming as the means of survival. The article leans on the analysis of sociological surveys carried out in the Republic of Buryatia, using the method of questionnaire. The results confirmed the theses of multiple Russian researchers on the occupation of rural population in private farming as a distinct adaptive strategy in the conditions of economic crisis and escalating unemployment. The article also verifies the conclusions on law marketability of such farmsteads due to the lack of necessary financial and material resources of their owners for achieving the new production capacities. The important sociocultural role of private farming aimed at support of agricultural communities and development of rural territories in modern Russia is underlined.

Demetradze M.R. - Social and cultural basis for the interdisciplinary domestic state policy and modern international relations. pp. 15-35

Abstract: The modernization character of the modern global processes demands new knowledge, high qualification of state administration. It is a necessary condition for the institutionalization of the modernization processes in all of the sphere of life of the society, participation in the global economic system at the modern basis, implementation of domestic and foreign policy in the interests of society and people.  It is the modernization markers, and not territorial, military or natural resources, that currently define authority, status, prestige and level of development of states.  That is why domestic and foreign policy get more and more closely intertwined, and that is why these problems are directly related to the spread of the modern standards in the various spheres of social life. Without such a domestic policy inclusion of the state into the global modernization processes loses its meaning and gets distorted, and the states themselves lose the status of fully competent participants of international relations.  The social and cultural methodology of the interdisciplinarity introduces the methods of situation analysis, problem diagnostics and forecasting in the sphere of making the model of social and cultural sphere for the future, and participation of society and the state in the modern modernization processes.  The key role is given to the idea - the modernization goal, which  shall form the content-matrix for the course of development of the state and allows to find responses to the questions: what needs changing, how and why it needs changing, what should be achieved, and what the use for the society and necessary period for changes are.  The social and cultural methods of interdisciplinarity serve as instruments for the influence on specific objects, defining the trajectory of their transfer from one status to another and the parameters of their motion towards the goal.

Demetradze M.R. - Social and cultural basis for the interdisciplinary methodology of the social sciences and humanities. pp. 17-40

Abstract: The object of studies includes sociological, economic, political, legal and culturological theories and disciplines, methodology of their connections, the social and cultural basis for the interdisciplinarity, its inner and outer structure and specificities of its application in domestic and foreign policy. The issues of security, modernization, socialization, social partnership, social justice, social equality and social well-being of societies and states form an inalienable part of the modern system of international relations. It includes the new rules for the participation of states and their interaction, competition principles, correlation between domestic and foreign policy, modern living standards, mechanisms for establishing the supremacy of the norms of international law, systems of state control, etc. After the 2nd World War international organizations (first of all, the UN) controlled the states based on international law, the specific feature of current situation is that starting from the late XX century this control system was strengthened by the social control mechanisms. Their introduction was due to a number of issues, such as: growing gap between the developed states and the ones falling behind, domination of the interests of the strong states at the international arena, politization of the state policy in the traditional societies, slowing down of the modernization process, weakness of attention towards the modernization challenges, closed character of traditional societies, etc. Therefore, the goal of formation of the mechanisms of international social control is neutralization of the threats to international security and alienation of traditional societies from liberal democratic values, the primary value of human factor and principles of social state. Underestimation at the global level of the specific features of modern image, status and prestige of the state, which are based on social and economic well-being of the people served as prerequisites for the formation of special UN mechanisms in late 1990s, these mechanisms were called indicators and indexes for the evaluation of various spheres of social life - social, economic, political, legal and cultural. These markers define the level of development or underdevelopment of the states, rather than size of their territory or their military potential. This change of paradigms shows the stronger ties between domestic and foreign policies of the state, institutionalization of the processes within the administration system, requiring special attention in the spheres of science and education. The role of connection between science and education is growing, and so does the value of multifeatured studies of the situation, the methods for acquiring rational and constructive information, etc. All of the above is possible only with the use of interdisciplinary approach, which requires the development of methodology, and special education of students as future professionals in the sphere of law, management, economics and international relations. The interdisciplinarity provides fundamental character to the modern science, which is necessary to guarantee the training of the highly qualified professionals, who would be capable of competing with the graduates of the Western higher education institutions.Application of the methods of interdisciplinarity of social theories and humanities allows to meet the demands of the modern science and education system, to provide a multi-dimensional approach towards the situation. Understanding of the growing value of the interdisciplinarity in the modern situation allows to gain rational and constructive information on various spheres  of life in the society: social, economic, political, legal, cultural. Revealing specific features of the modernization processes allows to uncover challenges and threats to modernization for any society and state within the framework of globalization. Studying the interdisciplinarity principles and expert methods based on these principles allows for finding social and cultural markers for specific objects and processes. Learning the skills of social and cultural interdisciplinarity is aimed at overcoming and termination of problems in various spheres of life in our society, for the correlation of these processes with the modern social living standards. It also allows for the formation of social and cultural model of state development, allowing to improve its image and status in the modern international processes, leading to the change of paradigms of its participation in the international relations, etc.

The author of the article applies the interdisciplinary approach and study war and peace not as individual phenomena but part of the images and attitudes that exist in the collective unconscious of the young people in today's Russia. The research like this one allows to perform some kind of a monitoring of the Russian socio-cultural environment and to reconstruct the contents thereof at certain intersection points. The concepts of 'war' and 'peace' are very important for the Russian socio-cultural environment and therefore the research of these concepts in terms of the interdisciplinary approach is currently important. The main research method used by the author is the focus group. The researcher thoroughly describes the study materials, goals and purposes of the research and provides the questionnaire based on which the focus group was created and conducted. The concepts of "war" and "peace" has changed substantially over the past 30-50 years. The term "war" is now an evolutionary leap. "War" took such information spaces as TV news, newspapers, blogs, websites while the concept of "peace" begins to fade and become more unreachable. In the XXIst century the war has the shade of peace. "War" and "peace" are now becoming identical concepts. These phenomena begin to exist within each other, complete each other and become an essential part of the whole.

Pavenkov O., Shmelev I., Rubtcova M. - Correlation analysis of the social and coping behavior of religious individuals: problems of social and psychological diagnostics pp. 30-40

Abstract: Examination of the ways for overcoming by a person of difficult life situations lead to the emergence of a new direction in psychological research, which currently actively develops in foreign countries and Russia – the study of coping behavior. Thus, within the framework of studying the mechanism of stress, R. Lazarus and S. Folkman, have formulated a cognitive theory of coping. The supporters of psychoanalytical approach, particularly K. Menninger, T. Krooberg, R. Mouz, N. Haan, and others, developed an ego-oriented concept of copings, which views the process of coping with hardships in form of the defense psychological mechanisms. They suggested a thought, according to which, coping manifests as a relatively stable personal prerequisite that predetermines human reaction upon one or another stress factor. The psychodiagnostic testing at all stages was conducted exceptionally during the daylight hours (morning and afternoon), in the specific educational facilities, with complete and voluntary agreement of the respondents. In this research took part  284 young Orthodox in the age of 20-32. The acquired results underline the existence of “active non-adaptivity” among the truly religious people, which is a self-state and self-positing of personality in the world. Externally, it manifests in form of defense behavior (r = 0.43, while p = 0.01). At the same time, its essence is to display meekness in any situation. Religious students strive to resolve the problems through positive rethought, as well as ability to consider them as an incentive to personality development. However, it is worth noting that the mildly religious students usually search the way out from a difficult life situation through the conflict interaction with the surrounding social environment.

Koval'chuk V.K. - Socio-demographic problems as a development factor of a modern Russian rural community pp. 33-39

Abstract: This research is dedicated to the topic of socio-demographic problems as a development factor of modern rural territories in Russia. The goal of this work is the assessment of reasons and prospects of the current development of destructive socio-demographic processes in the Russian rural community. Methodology is structured on combination of the secondary processing of sociological data, descriptive analysis and case study. The empirical foundation contains the results of nationwide mass surveys, verified by the major Russian sociological agencies. The author believes that the key socio-demographic problems of the Russian rural territories are substantiated by not only the influence of macroeconomic factor, but also the “revolution of expectations” that took place in people’s consciousness. The latter represents a byproduct of the promoted by modern society model of conspicuous consumption. The impact of this factor, supposedly, noticeably enhances the development of communication technologies. The development of crisis trends forms certain concerns regarding the prospect of settlement, determined by outflow of population. Thus, the migration from the rural areas that “die away” attains the signs of self-supporting process. The potential for recovery of rural settlements, affected by the destructive processes, is inversely proportional to the length of depressive period.  With a course of time, the destructive occurrences only worsen; therefore, it is reasonable to curtail them namely at the early stages of development. In order to stabilize the situation, the government needs to drastically change the model of spatial and regional development, including the refusal from focusing on the further development of large agglomerations. The programs of deindustrialization of the economy and moderate protectionism with regards to agricultural producers (as well as any projects aimed at creation of added value in the agricultural sector) should contribute to the revival of rural territories.

The article proves that the Mari language as the regional state language in a modern polycultural city Yoshkar-Ola preserves its importance, primarily within the system of communication and value interests of the Mari student youth; however, even in such environment it loses its positions, but maintains its ethnic value significance.

Popov E.A. - The state of sociological knowledge in thesis works pp. 50-56

Abstract: This article explores the state of thesis works on sociological sciences. Focus is made on determination of genre specificity of thesis works. Special attention is given to identification of merits and demerits of  thesis research. Based on the analysis of thesis works defended over the period from 2016 to 2017, it is concluded that their number increases in the selected academic fields, but the quality does not always meet the high standards. On the other hand, it is noted that the sociologists remain committed to the traditional sociological topics – the institutions of education and family, problems of studentship, Internet, and communications. Dissertators most often refer to the regional experience of functioning of the selected social institutions or flow of certain social processes. The research conducted at interdisciplinary level are also common. The article demonstrates that the genre specificity of thesis works consists in correspondence of the conducted research to the overall trends of development of sociological knowledge. Parashchevin M. - Place of religion in perception of the meaning of life: Russian and Ukrainian context pp. 68-79

Abstract: The subject of this research is the role of religion in determination of the meaning of life among the believers in modern Russia and Ukraine. Religion, and Christianity in particular, has always been (and must be) the source of life for its successors. Realization by religion of such meaning-making and meaning-transmitting function is a substantial condition for the social importance and influence of religion. In modern societies, the scales of the religion’s social role is subtle and represents a subject for discussion. For the more precise understanding of the question of functionality of the religion, the modern societies are in need of a comprehensive analysis of religion’s inclusion into the social processes and mass consciousness. One of the possible aspects of the analysis lies in assessment of inclusion of the religion into conceptual structures of mass consciousness. Based on the conducted analysis, the author concludes that the ability of Orthodoxy to become an actual alternative to the dominant in modern societies “Western” value complexes is significantly limited, because the transmitted by Orthodoxy values (particularly the orientation towards referring of the life goals to the transcendent source) do not elicit the public response. It is demonstrated that for majority of the Russian and Ukrainian believers, the religion to a significant extent has stopped being the foundation of conceptual structure. This, in turn, along with the low level of church affiliation, weak familiarization with the Orthodox dogmatic, readiness for the independent formation of religious meanings out of the secular ideologies, extremely confine the orientation towards the transmitted by the Church meanings and values.

Kananykina E.S. - System of Modern Education in the Republic of South Africa pp. 73-93

Abstract: The national system of the Republic of South Africa (hereinafter RSA) is one of the brightest examples of the polysystemic (mixed) law when the common law of the XIX century was mixed with the Roman-Dutch law. Popov E.A. - Triumvirate of sciences in understanding of the phenomena of spirituality: sociology of culture, sociology of spiritual life, and sociology of art pp. 80-89

Abstract: This article is dedicated to examination of the question of understanding of the phenomena of spirituality within the framework of sociological knowledge. Interdisciplinary aspect of the study of spirituality and its phenomena suggests domination of philosophy in this regard. However, from the perspective of sociology, in uniting the potentials of sociology of culture, sociology of spiritual life, and sociology of art, can be formulated an independent approach towards the analysis of human spiritual realm. Such interaction means the triumvirate of sociological branches. And if each of them separately resolves the question of cultural social being, various forms of spiritual life and art, the triumvirate or the theoretical methodological interaction ensures the high level of participation on namely sociology in examination of the spirituality alongside accumulation of the heuristic results. This carries a crucial meaning for the efficiency of interdisciplinary understanding of a complicated scientific object. Thus, the article underline the necessity of consideration of the cooperation between the three branches of sociology for increasing the efficiency of participation of social sciences in perceiving the phenomena of spirituality. Special attention is dedicated to living conditions of the population in the Russian Far East, as the majority of population, and mostly youth, face the situation of social inequality and marginality in relation to the rest of the Russians. In such context, many young people pursue their desire to move from the Far Eastern region. At the first stage of research, the authors used the method of overt observation, which allowed acquiring primary information on the impact of stigma upon self-identification of young people. The authors also applied statistical method in the course of collecting materials; document analysis; sociological survey in form of questionnaire and interview. Kananykina E.S. - Quality Standards of American Vocational Education pp. 88-124

Abstract: It is well-known that initially the economic growth of the United States of America was caused by the development of mass production when corporations were built according to the 'pyramid' principle. Back in those times all the decisions were made at the vertex of the pyramid. The base of the pyramid consisted of workers who were not expected to demonstrate any intellectual efforts and therefore they did not need any special professional skills to perform their functions. Quite naturally that the situation has changed with time and workers had to perform more intelligent functions. However, the gap between the need for skilled workers and availability of such workers kept growing. Due to that wages of low-skilled workers kept going down and the level of unemployment kept going up. Technological changes, restructuring and decline in production accompanied with the growing global competition led to serious changes in the USA economy.

Abstract: This article is dedicated to examination of the patterns of interpretation of the events related to dissemination of USSR within the modern Russian media discourse. Based on the content analysis of the most significant media projects on dissemination of USSR, the author determines the key media strategies of apprehension of this historical even and framing of the cultural trauma in media discourse of modern Russia. Therefore, the author conducts content analysis of cultural trauma in the context of peculiarities of the modern mythology. A number of classification categories were determined: 1) image of victim; 2) image of enemy; 3) images of fate; 4) image of the “reviving” state. The content analysis was aimed at estimating the vector and function of the expression, its intensity and space; the estimation units were the related text fragments that contained reference to dissemination of the Soviet Union. Thesis on the “fictitious”, “framed” character of cultural trauma should be interpreted through the lens of moderate constructivism. Nostalgia for the Soviet in the political and cultural life of modern Russian becomes the method of reproducing particularly the traumatic structures of memory. The stages of framing the cultural trauma in Russia, associated with the events of dissemination of USSR, in many ways reflect the peculiarities of the political processes. Namely, after 2011, there was a rapid increase in the number of small and large TV projects dedicated to the topic of dissemination of the Soviet Union. Content analysis demonstrated the transformation of narrative from the factual description of 1990’s to the description saturated with the interpretative context. Part of the projects implement the critical strategy of interpretation, while the rest demonstrate the traumatic interpretation of the events of dissemination of USSR. The author underlines the growth of TV show dedicated to the discussion of alternative to dissemination of the Soviet Union and finding those responsible for this historical event.
Kananykina E.S. - The Place of Judicial Precedents in the American System of Education pp. 111-135

Abstract: In accordance with the Amendment X to the Constitution of the USA, the functions of the federal government do not include the guidance of the system of education and therefore the federal government of the USA has rarely dealt with such issues until recently. Modern America is characterized with the decrease in autonomy of the regional and local educational authorities as well as the educational institutions themselves. It goes without saying that the decentralized system leaves a wide room for development of the local initiative, contributes to the conduction of all kinds of pedagogical experiments and takes into better account the local peculiarities influencing the goals and tasks of teaching and up-bringing. At the present time the Constitution of the USA does not refer the education issues solely to the competence of the federal goverment. Supervision of educational institutions and adiption of legal acts on education are carried out at the level of states and local authorities. Constitutions of almost all states prohibit the usage of social resources for financing any religious institutions including schools. However, there are private educational schools and institutions and most of them belong to religious organizations. Religious education is also performed at Sunday schools and Biblical classes where education is viewed not only as the most importat factor of the economic progress but also as a powerful method of ideological influence on the youth.
