Skorobogatov Y.O. - Criteria for Differentiating Teaching Objectives in Blended Teaching pp. 1-11

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23184

Abstract: The subject of the research is blended teaching as a form of education. The author of the article analyzes peculiarities and curriculum structure of teaching computer science to school students in blended teaching. One of the key points to be focused on when preparing such a course is a well organised system of teaching objectives. Skorobogatov introduces criteria for differentiating teaching obejctives in accordance with different cognitive difficulty levels (based on Tollingerova) and specific features of teaching situations. The author defines the obejctives of the first level that are to be achieved independently at home; general objectives of the second and third levels that are discussed when a student personally meets a teacher; and individual objectives that may be of the fourth or the fifth levels depending on a classroom teaching method chosen by a teacher (individual session, learning in pairs or in groups). The main research methods used by the author is the analysis of psychological-pedagogical, scientific methodological and special literature as well as articles and publications devoted to blended teaching and classification of teaching objectives. The author has also used the method of modelling when creating teaching objectives. The main conclusion of the research is the comparison of objectives with different cognitive levels to special features of teaching situations when teaching computer science to 7 - 11 grade students in the form of blended teaching. According to the author, this teaching activity contributes to a better knowledge in disciplines and development of such metadisciplinary competences as creative thinking, ability to self-assessment and communication ability.

Modern strategies and forms of education
Matsievskii G.O. - The Modern System of Education of the Cossack in the Kuban Region: Stages of Development and Features pp. 20-33

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23475

Abstract: The development of regional models of education that contribute to the restoration of cultural continuity, the preservation of traditions, customs and values, in the context of globalization is becoming particularly relevant. The subject of the study is the system of Cossack education in the Kuban. The goal is to analyze the main stages and features of development, identify possible potential in counteracting ethnosocial conflicts, and build interethnic dialogue. In the work general scientific methods of research are used such as analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization, comparison, etc. As a result of the research, it is concluded that the Cossack education in the Kuban region passed a number of stages of development from the spontaneous appearance and activity of individual Cossack classes and groups in general education institutions to the folding of a multilevel system: a kindergarten - an institution for additional education - a school - a cadet Cossack corps - University. The role of the Cossack education system in building good ethno-confessional relations, developing good-neighborliness and mutual understanding between representatives of different peoples and cultures, and reducing interethnic conflicts among the region's youth was not effective. It was based on the knowledge of the history, culture and customs of the Cossacks teachers. However, the potential of the Cossack education system in solving these problems is great. Materials and conclusions of the study can be used by representatives of Cossack societies responsible for interaction with educational institutions that implement the Cossack component, as well as for the preparation of educational and methodological materials for teachers of the Cossack classes and Cossack mentors.

Nevolina V.V., Belonovskaya I.D. - Pedagogical Project of the Experimental Foresight Platform 'Strategy of Students' Professional Self-Improvement in Health Education' pp. 34-39

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23883

Abstract: Modern society has a high demand in experts who are flexible at constructing efficient strategies of professional self-improvement. Health education is aimed at the standard competence model that does not fully take into account education predication objectives contributing to would-be medics' readiness to respond to the modern society's challenges. To the authors' opinion, moden education is not adequately oriented at the preduction model of training their graduates to build a clear strategy of professional self-improvement which would allow them to be able to meet competitions and demands of society. The authors have developed and implemented a pedagogical project, experimental foresight platform 'Strategy of Students' Professional Self-Improvement in Health Education'. They have developed and tested a set of research and methodological methods based on the analysis of health education resources (profession-oriented classes, preliminary courses, college, university, internship, post-graduate studies, proficiency courses), professional self-improvement technologies (Web-quests, workshops, 'Life Balance Wheel', time-management technologies, 'Time Swing', etc.), power point presentations 'Medicine of the Future', and guideline. The authors have also arranged the Self-Improvement Laboratory that allows to implement the aforesaid guidelines and methods developed as part of the project.

Bleikh N.O. - The Role of Islam and the North Caucasus Ethno-Pedagogy in the Education of Children pp. 58-65

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23334

Abstract: In this article Bleikh analyzes the role of Islam and the North Caucasus ethno-pedagogy in the education of children based on the analysis of little-known materials. It is proved that a key component of North Caucasus folk pedagogy is Islam which has rich educational potential and has allowed the mountain people to survive all the hardships and bad weather. The main focus is made on the theoretical and practical significance of the research which is caused by the lack of specific studies on the subject, lack of attention to the use of the family and the school of folk traditions and achievements of the Muslim ethno-pedagogy. The methodological basis of the research consists of the civilizational approach that requires extensive use of the comparative method. When considering specifics of the development of education among Muslims of the North Caucasus region the researcher has used comparative analysis and content analysis of texts. The conclusion is that the ideas and practices inherent in Islam were and still are advanced and progressive. They were reflected in the ethno-pedagogy of peoples of the North Caucasus which with its own methodology (nature, purpose, methods, technologies of education), and for many centuries it has been reflecting the philosophy of educational activities and has led to positive results in the development of the perfect personality. This duo demonstrates the high pedagogical culture of the Muslim peoples, thus confirming the theory that the current pedagogy can successfully meet educational objectives guided by the ideas of folk pedagogy.

Bobrova L.N., Moskalev A.N., Nikulova G.A. - Stages in Developing Practice-Oriented IT-Competences of Would-Be Teachers: From Class Projects to Real Achievements pp. 66-79

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23793

Abstract: The fact that students and teachers actively use information technologies (IT) in their academic process has defined the subject of the research. The article is devoted to IT-competences of would-be teachers applied in the process of selecting, using and teaching software. The authors of the article pay special attention to the requirements of teachers being ready for these activities as these requirements are presented in international and federal educational standards. The purpose of the research article is to describe a comprehensive approach to developing practice-oriented IT-competences of students trained in teaching and to solve the problem of popularisation of information and computer support of teaching disciplines at a university. Based on the Internet survey, the authors have analyzed IT-needs of teachers, structure of their interest in this sphere and IT usage rate. They have also discovered problems arising in the process of teachers' applying ready-to-use software. The main problem is that teachers have difficulty adjusting software products to their teaching method and planning of lessons. The authors describe the concept, system and experience in training would-be teachers for developing and using their own software for academic purposes. The authors also establish the main principles of 'transparent' development of IT-competences and curricular and psychological results of this approach. As an example, the authors describe fully featured academic software that is used to teach disciplines at Lipetsk State Pedagogical P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky University.
Controversy and debate
Gusev D.A. - The Teacher and the Scientist pp. 80-94

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0676.2017.3.23332

Abstract: The object of the research is the relationship between the definitions of teacher and scientist as well as realities behind these terms that are traditionally viewed as the crossing points. This is proved by the conjunction that is often used with these two terms in all kinds of contexts. The subject of the research is the particularities of a professional life of a teacher and a scientist that in many ways defines special personality traits of them both. The author of the article examines such aspects of the topic as the differences in a professional life of a scientist who creates new theoretical interpretations of natural and socio-humanitarian reality and a teacher who creates new forms and methods of explaining these interpretations to the students' audience. The researcher pays special attention to the analysis of the fact that a person who is a master of something is not necessarily a successful teacher of it. For example, someone who is fluent in a foreign language is not necessarily a great teacher of that language, a professional swimmer is not always a gifted swimming coach. To analyze the relationship between definitions of teacher and scientist and particularities of their professinal life, the author of the article has used such research methods as collection, observation and systematisation of empirical data, inductive generalisation, construction and analysis of schemes to describe the relationship between these terms, comparative analysis and mental experiment. The main conclusion of the research as well as the novelty thereof is the author's statement that the relationship between defnitions of teacher and scientist that is usually viewed as the crossing point can be also viewed as inconsistency or strict disjunction. Except for rare cases, scientist cannot be a successful teacher and teacher cannot be a successful scientist because they are in parallel although very closely related but completely different worldsas a result of different professional life, purposes and objectives of their activity, talents, abilities, skills, and personality traits. At the practical and institutional levels this conclusion can be expressed as a suggestion to replace traditional practice of 'consistent order' of academic credentials and degrees with the 'parallel order' by introducing some kind of a 'rank record' at higher schools.
