Abstract: Abstract: the article is aimed at finding the adequate interpretation of the famous Vedantic myth about the demon Vritra. The author is showing how weak usual “cosmic” interpretations of this myth are. Instead he has suggested the “chthonian” approach which allows to us to see that the myth reflected actual “earthly” events. The author compared the myth with the results of archeological and geomorphological (i.e. scientific) researchers and identified those events as actual referents of the myth. The article also contains description of certain paradigms and methods which were used by the archaic mind when constructing such a myth.

Chernova A.S. - Marginality - marginal personality - marginal culture: general and special. pp. 1-8

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2017.8.23570

Abstract:  This article is dedicated to examination of notions of "marginal", "marginality" and "marginal culture". The object of research is the socio-cultural space of a modern city. The author attempts to indicate the boundaries between the aforementioned notions, as well as determine their common features and specificity. The article reviews the causes led to emergence of the phenomenon of marginality, interrelation of marginal culture with the dominant culture alongside the phenomena of subculture and counterculture. At the same time, the author holds to an extensive view upon marginal personality that combines features inherent to various cultures. The work implies the method of “ideal types”, method of typology of cultures, as well as dialectical method, which suggested considering culture as a developing, internally contradictory, and multifaceted phenomenon. The scientific novelty consists in determination of the specific features common to marginal culture. As a result of the research, the author concludes that the concepts of "marginality", "marginal" and "marginal culture" are basically borderline and dualistic. Marginality is understood as a state of individuals who ended up in a limbo between two cultures combining their elements. They become the carriers of marginal culture, which also holds a place "at the outskirts" of dominant culture.

Smirnova G.E. - To the question of patriotism in Russia of the period of enlightened absolutism pp. 1-7

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.10.27854

Abstract: The subject of this research is the worldview of the Russian elite of the period of enlightened absolutism; while the subject is the peculiarities of patriotism in Russian in the late XVIII century. The questions of patriotism always spark interest, because love for the country is one of the basic values of the Russian culture. Historical, social and cultural contexts affect the content of the socially significant constants. The concepts of “patriotism” and “serving country” are prone to transformation with the flow of historical development, but always remain the foundation of national mentality. Analyzing the statement s of the Russian of noble descent of the examined period, the author finds it important to determine what did the contemporaries imply speaking of the true “Sons of the Motherland”, patriots; what was the essence of serving ountry during the period of enlightened absolutism in Russia; what was the impact of the ideology of Enlightenment upon such perception. The scientific novelty lies in analyzing the cultural peculiarities of the era through the prism of the concept of “patriotism”. Patriots of the late XVIII century are the educated, mindful, working for the good of fellow citizens, valuing their roots and cultural traditions, respecting the human person. Their duty to the country differs from the duty to the reigning person; their Motherland is the God granted home; and the foundation of love for the country is the love for home and care for your neighbors.

Nikiforova A. - Development of the idea of art synthesis in European culture of the XIX–XX centuries pp. 1-19

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2021.9.36686

Abstract: This article is dedicated to examination of art synthesis as a phenomenon that extended to various spheres of culture and art of the XIX–XX centuries. This period marks the emergence of a different visual language and new forms of perception of artistic expression. Analysis is conducted on the  forms of implementation of the idea Gesamtkunstwerk, and their development throughout the XX century: mythologization as a peculiar method of thinking, strive to go beyond the purely artistic imagery, subjectification of the perception of time and space, creation of the organized aesthetic environment, aesthetic dimension of humanism, synthetism of mentality and universalism of the artist. Special attention is given to the historical-cultural context, from the views of the Jena Romantics and musical theory of R. Wagner to the works of the masters of Art Nouveau, avant-garde and innovators of the theatrical scenery. The author also reviews the advent of the new forms of artistic expression. The analysis of the key trends allows determining the broad sense of the idea of art synthesis for the culture: philosophy, poetry, architecture, visual arts, design, and performance. The novelty of this study consists in description of the idea of art synthesis as one of the key meaning-forming factors in the European culture of the XIX–XX centuries. The article examines the problem of performativity of modern art as the logical continuation of the evolution of forms of artistic expression. Modern theatrical and performative practices (“live” exhibitory spaces, “museum of senses”, “theater of plentitude”, exploratory theater, promenade theater, and other) can be viewed as the reconceived version of the idea of art synthesis that originated in the culture of German Romanticism.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2021.11.37048

Abstract: The subject of this article is the substantiation of the fundamental link between culture and modern problem of searching for the vector of positive social development. The object of this research is the concept of noospheric development as one of the productive futurological strategies that gives adequate responses to the challenges of modernity. Leaning on the unified nature of the sphere of noumena, regardless of the methods of cognition of existence (science, religion, art), and integrating the conceptual grounds of the theories of noosphere and pneumatosphere, the author proves that cultural phenomena are capable of fulfilling the functions of the attractor of social development as the bearers of scientific ideas, axiological and aesthetic values, and aspirations for spiritual ideals. The artifacts that are yet to be implemented, but of exists as ideas, do influence the future. The noospheric strategy of social development requires elaboration of new educational approaches. Special attention is given to the substantiation of culture-making educational model as an effective methodology in preparation of “man on the future”. Analysis of the works of the founders of the theory of noosphere and the theory of pneumatosphere, as well as their contemporary adherents allows concluding on the natural integration of the concepts of V. I. Vernadsky and P. A. Florensky in modern concept of noospherogenesis, as scientific, artistic, and social ideas have the single information nature. The acquired conclusions explicate the culturological component of the concept of noospherogenesis and substantiate the effectiveness of culture-making educational model that contributes to the formation of noospheric type of mentality among younger generation. The author’s special contribution consists in presentation of the model of culture-making school, tested on the public schools of Altai Krai, which also has high heuristic potential for humanities and art universities.

Abstract: Chinese traditional costume is one of the important carriers of Chinese culture. The process of the emergence and development of the culture of traditional Chinese costume also reflects the cultural background and evolution of ancient Chinese society. In the context of the strengthening of the Chinese economy, the inheritance and development of Chinese clothing culture is of great importance for modern society. The epochs of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties are a period of Chinese history marked by frequent wars, ethnic integration and convergence of various ideas. Against this background, there was a weakening of the Confucian "ritual" style, followed by the spread of the teachings of Xuan Xue, Buddhism and Taoism, and a freer, down-to-earth, elegant clothing culture appeared. This article consists of the following three parts: Diversity of social background; Artistic forms of costume culture of the Wei-Jin eras; Modern trends in the development of clothing culture. Based, among other things, on such material as the scroll painting "The Fairy of the Lo River" by the artist Gu Kaizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, this article analyzes the influence of the teachings of Xuan-xue, Buddhism and Taoism on the costume of the Wei and Jin dynasties, illustrates the direction of development of modern Chinese costume culture, and continued the path for the development of clothing culture with Chinese specifics.

Abstract: The appeal to the cultural space of the Silver Age and the Russian avant-garde allows us to judge the diversity of manifestations of the cultural text, the uniqueness of the dialogue between the cultural worlds of Russia and Europe, East and West. The cultural space of prominent representatives of the Russian avant-garde, including V. Kandinsky and D. Burliuk, was distinguished by a combination of artistic creativity and theoretical views, that is, a variety of synthesis of visual, verbal, auditory and other texts. Accordingly, the object of the study is the creative and theoretical heritage of V. Kandinsky and D. Burliuk, consisting of many texts, the subject is the identification of characteristic features of their cultural worlds, such as dialogicity and textuality. The scientific novelty and purpose of our research consists in the culturol analysis and method of comparing the artistic and theoretical views of the artists-thinkers V. Kandinsky and D. Burliuk, in identifying the inseparable connection of their various texts: artistic, visual, verbal, auditory and others. It is established that the originality of the national culture is due to the history of Russia and its location between Europe and Asia. The simultaneous coexistence of cultural phenomena of the past, present and future, their continuity and competition among themselves is a non-linear process, which happens in the era of the Silver Age. This "transitional" period at the junction of the XIX-XX centuries is characterized as an "explosion" situation. The embodiment of the unity of the traditions of Russian and European arts, the interweaving of their artistic achievements and theoretical attitudes in V. Kandinsky's worldview, as well as theoretical views on art problems and the originality of D. Burliuk's artistic text with his passion for Oriental art – all this confirms the similarity of the creative attitudes of artists-thinkers. A comparison of their verbal and artistic texts leads to the conclusion that the features of the cultural worlds of V. Kandinsky and D. Burliuk are dialogic, textual and synthetic.

Koptseva, N. P. - Methodological Opportunities of Social (Cultural) Anthropology for Modern Cultural Research pp. 9-18
Abstract: The author of the article discusses the problem of selecting methods for modern cultural research including applied cultural studies of regional processes in culture. In this regard, the author suggests to use more opportunities of the British social (cultural) anthropology and the method of functionalism suggested by a British social anthropologist Alfred Reginald Radcliff-Brown. It is assumed that for Russian cultural research which is included towards theorization and even scholasticism it is very important to adopt the tradition of empiric cultural research including field studies and draw out these or those theoretical provisions based on accurate inductive generalization. Combination of applied and theoretical methods in cultural research can help to create a modern educational process for cultural research students at modern Russian Universities. Applied cultural research is an essential component of quality education in the sphere of culture. Induction method of cultural research is quite popular at a modern stage of development of Russian cultural science. Opportunities of this approach can be revealed through understanding of cultural anthropological models for analyzing social and cultural realities in the Russian Federation.

Zapesotsky, A. S. - Vyacheslav Stepin’s Activity and Semiotics Theory of Culture pp. 9-29

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2013.1.62034

Abstract: The article contains the analysis of Vyacheslav Stepin’s views on culture. It is shown that the combination of these views constitutes an articulate, fundamental theory that makes a significant contribution to cultural studies. Vyacheslav Stepin’s works create a multidimensional, summative and coherent ‘picture of the culture’. Culture is viewed as the system of supra-biological activity programs, specific method of coding social information, system of social and spiritual programs. Particular attention is paid at Vyacheslav Stepin’s cultural universals understood as the main elements of the system. It is also underlined that tere is a certain organic interaction between philosophical and culturological categories. It is proved that Vyacheslav Stepin’s theory of culture has a significant meaning both for theory and researches.

Bagrovnikov N.A., Fedorova M. - A. Durer's "Apocalypse": an attempt at a philosophical interpretation of the space-time problems of the cycle of engravings pp. 13-33

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2023.6.40701

EDN: VZBZEI

Abstract: Within the framework of this article, the authors analyze the cycle of engravings "Apocalypse" by Albrecht Durer in the context of the categories of space and time that have developed in the history and philosophy of culture of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The metaphysical essence of time, defined by Christian eschatology, found its vivid embodiment in the activities of many figures of artistic culture of that era. Apocalyptic moods, which largely determine the consciousness of people of the Reformation era, were also inherent in A. Durer. The cycle of engravings "Apocalypse" in many ways should be considered as the quintessence of these moods and a reflection of the image of death that develops in this era. Space also acquires metaphysical characteristics, becomes heterogeneous, emotionally colored. The authors conclude that in the "Apocalypse" there is a mixed (and therefore very peculiar) interpretation of the category of time and space. It clearly shows the transition of the space-time representations of the Middle Ages to the ideas of time and space inherent in the New Time. It is also possible that we have before us one of the variants of the Renaissance mastery of the categories of time and space in the art of Europe. Attention is drawn to its openness and conscious demonstrativeness, because two artistic systems interact with each other on an equal footing; their stylistic potential and expressive means are used entirely, with full dedication and as a result, with maximum impressive force.

Wan J. - Analysis of the visual language of lotus patterns in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties pp. 16-32

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2021.10.36882

Abstract: Lotus is one of the traditional Chinese patterns that runs deep in the history of China. During the rule of Wei and Jin dynasties, as well as Northern and Southern dynasties (222 – 589 AD), Buddhism teaching has become widespread in China. Buddhism affected the traditional Chinese lotus patterns in terms of the used artistic means and methods of expression. Analysis is conducted on manifestation and evolution of the artistic form of the lotus pattern in Chinese culture, as well as the changes in its artistic means of expression and graphics based on the information described in the scientific literature dedicated to artefacts. The conclusion is made that the development and evolution of decorative patterns is often a result of interaction of different cultures and forms of art, rather than continuation of one or another single line. The author summarizes the common artistic form of lotus patterns of this period, as well as the basis of the visual language of lotus patterns and its development. The artistic style of this period under review remains in a relatively stable transitional stage from the perspective of formal expression.

Churkina N.A. - To the question about communicative function of mentality pp. 17-23

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.5.26269

Abstract: This article reveals the peculiarities of communicative function of human mentality. As a specific way of reasoning and sensing, mentality is associated with human comprehension of the surrounding reality and manifests as the means of formation of the holistic picture of the world. As a complicated sociocultural system, mentality has a number of function. The functions can be determined as a way of behavior of any system, as well as its response to the external and internal influences. The article substantiates the existence of communicative function of mentality, which defines the conditions of interaction between the individuals in mental space. Methodological basis for this research contains the functional approach that allows establishing the representations on the activity of mentality, as well as hermeneutics that explains the specificity of understanding the surrounding reality by the representatives of various sociocultural communities. A conclusion is made that due to the mental unity of the participants of information interaction, in communication form the collective senses that define the human’s picture of the world, establish the social conventions, as well as originate the human representations about themselves as a possessor of certain sociocultural peculiarities; in other words, is realized the personal and collective identification of the carriers of common mentality.

Pigalev S. - Mystery fiction in culture: evolution of genre and crisis of cultural paradigm of modernity pp. 21-34

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2020.5.33073

Abstract: The subject of this research is the phenomenon of mystery fiction and its evolution in the context of development of sociocultural project of modernity. The latter is viewed as a complex system, which fundamental principles permeate the entire fabrics of European culture, generating such phenomenon as a mystery fiction plot. The analysis of its varieties deepens the understanding of specificity of modernity and mature of crises that has captured it. Hermeneutic analysis allows going beyond the frames of the narrow-disciplinary analysis of the corresponding texts, allowing to determine the inevident layers within the phenomenon of narration of mystery fiction. The initial methodological point is presented by the concept of V. P. Rudnev, who identified interrelation between the mystery fiction storylines and dominant gnoseological paradigm. The author determines the four levels of narration of mystery fiction: ontological, gnoseological, anthropological, and ethical-normative. The classical (analytical) mystery fiction describes reality commensurable to human reason (ontological level), investigation appears as strict analysis (gnoseological level), detective resembles a “private thinker” who is distant from the society and the crime itself (anthropological level), and a crime is interpreted as a deviation that disturbs harmony of the rational order (ethical-normative level). In this sense, a classical mystery fiction is a reflection of metanarrative of modernity, aimed at building a complete system, and excluding the Other. At the same time, the crisis of the basis of modernity is essentially reflected in metamorphoses of mystery fiction genre. In existential and pragmatic mystery fiction, reality is irrational, and boundaries between the norm and deviation are being diluted. Such situation may be describes as disappointment in metanarrative – in underlines the inability of modern culture to adequately fulfill its fundamental functions. The Other strike roots in the cultural space; however, the space itself exists in accordance with the principles of postmodern anarchy.

Fedorova M., Rotanova M.B. - In this article, the authors address the problem of the correlation of laughing culture and religious experience. The complex dialectics of the relationship between religion and cultural laughter originates in the ritual activity of early forms of religions. The authors, tracing the main stages of the development of the laughing culture, dwell in detail on the current stage of socio-cultural development associated with the design of the digital space. The main methodological approach in the analysis of religious experience in cyberspace is the hermeneutical-phenomenological method of M. Eliade, implying that every person has religious feelings. The empirical basis of the study was the results of a sociological study of the dynamics of the value consciousness of young people, conducted from 2006 to 2019, as well as the information content of websites, groups in social networks, messenger channels and video hosting.   As a result of the study, the authors conclude that a special laughing culture is developing in modern digital society: a cybersmech culture that performs a number of important social functions. Cybersmech culture can rightfully be considered popular. It is characterized by genre and style originality: thus, visual genres appear, expressed in comic media objects (for example, memes). Cybersmech culture is becoming one of the factors in the formation of religious experience in the digital environment. This is expressed in the active gamerization of religious relations observed in the Internet space, the production of new myths, "religious making", changing the boundaries of the Sacred and the mundane in a digital society. pp. 23-37

Abstract: The subject of the study is the problem of the integrity of the development of national culture and the spiritual continuity of historical epochs, which raises the question of how the same philosophical and ideological concepts pass from one century to another, influencing artists of different generations. The purpose of the work is to study to what extent the ideas and artistic images of F. M. Dostoevsky acted for M. M. Prishvin as a context for comprehending the essence of Soviet reality, as well as his philosophical and ideological assessment of the ideology and policy of the ruling Bolshevik party. The article uses the method of historical reconstruction of the ideological and political context of the life of Soviet society and the state. The method of hermeneutics is used, the application of which directly follows from the specifics of the writers' artistic discourse. The comparative study of texts and worldview views recorded in the diaries of Dostoevsky and Prishvin acts as a kind of hermeneutic circle, i.e. the analysis of the worldview makes it possible to better understand the text, and the text, in turn, makes it possible to clarify the features of the author's conceptual worldview ideas. The novelty of the research lies in the introduction into scientific circulation of new facts from the 18-volume Prishvinsky Diary (1905-1954), published only in the post-Soviet period, hidden for many years, allowing to discover additional facets of the artist's work. The study revealed the main determinants of the evolution of Prishvin's worldview from categorical rejection of the October Revolution and Bolshevism to reconciliation with the Soviet state. The results obtained contribute to the development of Russian studies, allowing us to better understand the patterns of the evolution of the worldview and the features of the writer's artistic world, as well as his place and role in the history of Russian and Soviet culture of the XX century.

Zaótseva N.V. - “Natural” in the philosophical and moralistic literature of the XVII century pp. 33-45

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2021.11.36779

Abstract: In philosophy, “natural” is viewed as an ontological characteristic of the objects of internal and external reality along with the concept of “artificial”. However, in the XVII century, the philosophical and moralistic literature undergoes aestheticization. Numerous appeals of the writers, moralists and philosopher, as well as dialogues and arguments on the topic of “natural” indicate that this was of crucial importance for the aesthetic thought of the XVII century. The answer to the question ‘what natural is’ has become the cornerstone of the new gallant aesthetics, and in behavior was associated with fluency and aristocratic inattention, which are opposed to pomposity and affectation. In art, “natural” was perceived as a desire to purge from the Baroque ostentation. In literature, it is the result of hard work on the language that allows achieving lightness and fluency. Ultimately, in the philosophical thought, “natural” is perceived as the correspondence with truth. Until the present, the question of aestheticization of the “natural” did not draw the attention of Russian researchers. This is partly explained by the historical tradition. Russia enters the European philosophical thought only in the Era of Enlightenment in the XVIII century; thus, the XVII century seems somewhat archaic on the background of the topical issues. However, the XVII century is the advent of the history of modern philosophical and aesthetic thought, and creates the foundation of modern European mentality. This period marks the formation of the new aesthetic ideal, new aesthetic norms, and the system for assessing the work of art, which assign an important role to the “natural”.

Abstract: The subject of the study is carnival and laughter forms in the traditional life cycle rites of the peoples of the Middle Volga region before 1917. On the basis of archival materials collected by the author and local history literature, a typology of variants of the manifestation of carnival and laughter forms in the ritual practices of the population of the region is carried out for the first time. Based on specific historical examples, the analysis of the selected variants ("noisy performance", "antics", "censure" and "imitation") is carried out. The article uses systematic and culturological approaches that allow to explain the reasons for the stability and semantic content of the rituals, as well as their role in the translation of spiritual and moral values of the inhabitants of the region. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the interpretation of the traditional life cycle rites of the peoples of the Middle Volga region as the focus of carnival and laughter forms that help overcome fears of an unknown future and create an atmosphere of optimism. The main result of the research is a new understanding of the traditional life cycle rites of the peoples of the Middle Volga region as a means of psychotherapy due to their inherent carnival and laughter forms that help a person adapt to various conditions of existence. The material of the article can serve as a basis for scientific research in the field of psychology of ritual activity, for the preparation of educational courses on the history of everyday life and cultural studies.

Abstract: The subject of this research is the doctrine of personality in philosophy of the early German romanticism. As the main source of establishment of the romantic concept of personality, the author examines I. Kant’s doctrine of the genius nature of creation. Detailed analysis is conducted on the artistic-philosophical fragments of Novalis and F. Schlegel, in which the concept of personality as a subject of creation is described most vividly. The article substantiates the fundamental significance of the concept of personality of all elements of the philosophy of romanticism, namely for the romanticists’ theory of understanding. The author analyzes not only the philosophical research on romanticism, but also literary, culturological, and religious publications on the topic. The article systematically substantiates the position, according to which creation in the philosophy of romanticism manifests as a universal substance of human spirit, which finds individual reflection in each person, and becomes the foundation for his growth and knowledge. The peculiarity of semantic theory of creative personality consists in the fact that in cannot be exhaustively cognized by the rational means; only artistic-aesthetic and religious consciousness allows approximating to comprehension of the nature of creation.

Abstract: The article presents an analysis of such categories as "unconscious", "universal spirit", "spiritual and national identity", "collectivism". The concepts of the essence of the spirit developed by G. V. F. Hegel are considered. The conclusion is made about the relationship between the Hegelian category of the universal spirit and spiritual and national identity. The problem of the Russian idea is considered, the main directions of its resolution are outlined. The evolution of ideas about the spiritual and national identity of Russians is described. It is noted that the conclusions about the universality of the spirit and its relationship with the spiritual and national identity of Russians are of great practical importance. The author notes that the conclusions about the universality of the spirit and its relationship with the spiritual and national identity of Russians are of great practical importance. The research can be used to develop strategies for the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of peoples, as well as for a deeper understanding of the processes of formation and development of national identity. The author used methods of philosophical analysis and interpretation of philosophical texts, a historical method to study the evolution of ideas about the spiritual and national identity of Russians, a comparative analysis of various approaches to the problem of the Russian idea, a study of the socio-cultural context of the formation of spiritual and national identity. The author also used analytical and synthetic methods to identify relationships. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the fact that it is an attempt to integrate G. V. F. Hegel's philosophical concepts of the universal spirit with the problems of spiritual and national identity. In addition, the study offers a new approach to understanding the formation of spiritual and national identity, based on Hegelian philosophy. This approach allows us to consider national identity not only as a subjective sense of belonging to a particular nation, but also as a manifestation of the universal spirit, which is embodied through collective values, ideals and cultural traditions. Thus, this study contributes to the development of the philosophy of national identity, offering a new interpretation of its nature and connections with the universal spirit. The results obtained can be used for a deeper understanding of the processes of formation and development of national identity, as well as for the development of strategies for the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of peoples.

Abstract: The subject of research in this article is some aspects of the life path of a prominent figure of the Reformation in Germany, Philip Melanchthon, which influenced the evolution of his worldview. Special attention is paid to the facts of his biography, the characteristics of his early works, as well as his assessments of the confessional struggle and calls for the active involvement of administrative resources to crack down on dissidents. The methodological basis of this article is the dialectical approach, in particular, the principle of the relationship between the general and the singular, as well as the principle of the unity of the logical and historical. These principles allow us to identify the ethical nuances of the evolution of F. Melanchthon's views as a Reformation figure based on his statements and assessments. Philip Melanchthon is often evaluated in the scientific literature as one of the founders of the new faith, the second most important after Martin Luther, whose merit was the attempt to reconcile humanistic views and new confessional interests. However, based on a detailed analysis of the material presented in the article, the authors come to the conclusion that Philip Melanchthon, having devoted himself entirely to the Reformation, renounced the German humanistic tradition of the XV century, the values of humanism represented in the works of Jacob Wimplefing, Johann Reichlin, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Thomas More, John Colet. Therefore, its classification as "Christian humanism" is erroneous.

Abstract: The object of this research is the situation of permanent modernity, interpreted as a phenomenon of culture, the ontology and dynamics of which is in the subject reviewed in Cartesian-Quantum tradition: as a free, creative, avocational individual who relies upon his own reason, answering the sapere aude enlightenment call, understanding the games of the micro-power (M. Foucault) and liberated from the power of the Big Other (J. Lacan), i.e. consciously and independently constructing own selfhood, Self=Self (J. Fichte), Self speaks of Self (J. Lacan); and through Self realizing cognition and creation of surrounding sociocultural space, where art and politics become the symptom and form of interaction between the subject and permanence of time. Leaning on the theoretical concepts of A. V. Pavlov, J. Lacan, A. Badiou and J. Rancière, the author examines the relations between art and politics within the structure of permanent modernity. The conclusion is made that modernity and postmodernity, civilization and culture, Intercivilizational era (A. V. Pavlov) are the forms of dynamics of permanent modernity, the attempts to capture Time (phenomenal, mental, cultural, conveyed from one subject to another in horizontality and verticality of time (physical phenomenon). Art is a symptom that speaks of the state of Time and assists the cognition of truth of the singular and plural, flowing into the politics – the procedure of mass affiliation to the truth of emancipation of human beings, the key processes of which are the fight for equality and freedom.

Brodskii A.I. - Creative repression (To methodology of studying cultural traumas) pp. 40-50

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.8.27112

Abstract: At the turn of the XX-XXI centuries, have emerged multiple works dedicated to the analysis of so-called “cultural trauma”, in other words, a psychological trauma that affects the formation of one or another collective (national, religious, class, etc.) identity. These research used the various, and at times, conflicting methodologies: behavioristic, psychoanalytic, and constructivist. The author attempts to combine all of the valuable achieved within the framework of modern methodologies, having revised the initial prerequisite of examination of cultural traumas. First assumption of the author is the hypothesis of non-communicative nature of language, according to which language is formed as a “strategic computational system” that originally was indented for interaction between people (N. Chomsky and others). The second – is a creative, essential for the establishment of personality and community character or repressed to subconscious traumatic factors (Freudism of the 1920’s – 1930’s). The third – is a “selective” character of any culture, which transmits or suppresses the existing at its disposal meanings and values (Foucault and others). As a result, the author suggests to view the cultural trauma as a process of complicated interaction of the conscious (representative, communicative) and the subconscious (strategic-intellectual) factor. Notably, at the conscious level, it would always be the traumatizing external circumstances, “hostile environment”; while at the subconscious level – about the frustrated self-abnegation, inability to “become different”. Both levels are necessary for the establishment of collective identity.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2019.1.28705

Abstract: The subject of this research is the theory of interconnections between architecture and tectonics of the XX century and the transformations taking place in social space, and thus, in the individual mental life of a person. The study was conducted based on the works of one of the most prominent representatives of anthropological approach in the architectural philosophy – the German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk. His philosophical concept Sloterdijk builds through determination of the essence of consciousness of a modern human, which reflects the phenomena of social restructuring along with the transformations in sociopolitical and cultural life. The article examines the analyzed by the philosopher strategies and patterns common to urban development and architectural engineering of the XX century. Methodology contains the descriptive characteristics of P. Sloterdijk’s architectural philosophy in the Russian-language scientific literature; hermeneutic analysis of his works; and comparative analysis of his ideas with the theories of other prominent representatives of the architectural philosophy. The scientific novelty is substantiated by the insufficient knowledge on Sloterdijk’s architectural philosophy in the Russian-language scientific literature. In conclusion, the author systematizes and generalizes Sloterdijk’s key ideas pertinent to interconditionality of architecture of the XX century with the sphere of psychosocial, as well as compares his philosophical concept with the content of theories of other architectural philosophers.

Abstract: This paper is focused on the ways of expressing trust and distrust in financial institutions represented in the language and speech culture of the population of the Lipetsk region. Based on 55 semi-structured interviews of three generations (centennials, millennials, elder generations) living in rural and urban settlements, issues of understanding and interpretation of financial institutions, features of trust, positive and negative experiences of interaction with various financial institutions were analyzed. The use of the constructivism made it possible to interpret trust as an internal component of the practices of an agent involved in the current financial situation. The study showed that in regions with an average standard of living, an average level of financial culture and the dominance of a conservative model of financial behaviour, the difference between generations is less noticeable against the backdrop of a significant difference between residents of rural and urban settlements. The analysis of interviews with three generations of residents of the region showed that the conservative model of financial behaviour continues to be reproduced in the speech culture of the informants, where banks and insurance organizations remain the most trustworthy. The images of financial institutions, represented in the language of the interviews, revealed a high level of resentment associated with the experience of past events (the collapse of the USSR, privatization). The content analysis revealed the image of the state as a “collector of payments”, and to a lesser extent, a “helper” supporting a person in his relationship with financial institutions.

Abstract: This article explores the issues pertaining to perception of reality through cinematography, including modern film editing. Analysis is conducted on modern surrealistic portraying of the world in movies, highlighting the importance of created reality in movies and its perception by the viewers. The article presents brief analysis of the works of such renowned philosophers as André Bazin, Henri Bergson, Jean Baudrillard, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Walter Benjamin. Modern cinematography in form of “movie universes” and “movie franchises” is used as an example. This research covers modern films, which reflect popular demand for maximal realism as an opportunity to identify and reach maximal immersion into story on the screen. Cinematography began be showing real events as chronicles, later undergoing changes, and with development of technology becomes more distant from portrayal of specific reality and people. In the 1980s the conceptual idea changes, and cinematography becomes more realistic. However, in the early XXI century, while chasing realism modern movies became hyper-realistic, causing gradual degradation of sense of reality of the picture.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the identification of the genesis, typology and characterization of the philosophical concept of chaos, discreteness, paradoxicity and rhizomorphism of being and their reflection in philosophy and postmodern fiction based on the works of J.L. Borges and U. Eco is about libraries embodied by foreign authors as rhizomorphic paradoxical labyrinths. The concept of rhizome is considered in the context of temporal chaos. In accordance with the basic principles of historical science, the issues of rhizomorphism of the labyrinth library in the context of time are revealed. The research methodology includes general scientific and special comparative methods. The comparative historical and descriptive approaches of the above sources are used. Examples of works by J.L. Borges and U. Eco in the concept of their description of the library as a rhizomorphic paradoxical labyrinth. The relevance of the article lies in the appeal to the analysis of the image of the library as a concept that initially symbolizes the storage of books, knowledge, embodying stability, logical orderliness, consistency. In the culture and art of postmodernism, this symbolism has been radically transformed, which is convincingly proved by the analysis of texts by J.L. Borges and U. Eco.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2020.10.33263

Abstract: This article presents the analysis of the philosophy of Pythagoreans, dedicated to the search and conceptualization of the ideas of subjectivation. The goal of this research is to provide general characteristics to Pythagorean model of subjectivation, which was only partially described by M. Foucault in the writings on Ancient Greek “care of self’. The work employs the translated sources, in form of separate fragments of the compositions written by Pythagoreans, as well as a number of analytical works of Russian and foreign scholars. Considering the narrowness of available materials, the author does not intent to provide a comprehensive overview of the ideas of Pythagorean School, but emphasizes their special stance on subjectivity and personal becoming through a combination of spiritual practices. The scientific novelty consists in the attempt to describe the general ideas of Pythagoreans in the field of ethics, as well as formulate the Pythagorean model of subjectivation to fill the existing gams in M, Foucault’s works of later period. The following conclusions are formulated: it was established that not only ethical, but also political saturation of the history of Pythagoreanism is on par with the Socratian-Platonic model, characterized by Foucault as politically oriented (for example, thanks to analysis of “Alcibiades”); the four key techniques of self-care were derived and systematized; it was demonstrated that unlike Stoicism, Neo-Pythagoreanism did not adapt its doctrine in the field of ethics, and thus, did not receive due reflection in Hellenistic period of development of the “culture of self”.

On the contrary to the thesis on ‘principal a-cultural sensitivity’ of philosophy (i.e., its independence from culturally determined meanings), these authors believe that every philosophical thought is culturally determined: philosophy is nothing else but self-consciousness (auto-reflection) of culture. ‘Anarchic philosophy’ is opposed to ‘totalitarianism of the thought’ but overlooks another threat: defeat of culture which fails to repress the revolt of individualism

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.7.26799

Abstract: The subject of this research is the analysis of the dynamics of irrationalistic conceptual constructs of creativity in the history of philosophical thought of the XIX and XX centuries. It is determined that the artistic, political, general, philosophical and other discourses form in accordance with the discovery and elevation to highest importance of one or another part of the aspect of the irrational. Particular attention is given to examination of the problem of creativity in the concepts of A. Schopenhauer, H. Bergson; philosophy of life of G. Simmel, F. Nietzsche, Novalis, F. Schleiermacher, J. Ruskin and N. Berdyaev, who analyzed creativity as an attribute of human existence that to a considerable degree is an embodiment of human irrationality. The scientific method consists in comprehension of the trends of genesis and formation of the concepts of creativity in the philosophy of irrationalism. A conclusion is made that examination of the problem of creativity through the prism of irrational to one or another extent is characteristic to all theoretical philosophical systems of the time of renunciation of the cult of reason, which demonstrates the determinant role of sociocultural context, the mental content of the cultural aura of the era. Therefore, the irrationalistic interpretations of creativity in philosophy are an important component within the holistic comprehension of the conceptualizations of creativity in the cultural-historical reconstruction.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2020.11.33506

Abstract: The subject of this research is analysis of the problem of interaction between cultural landscape and space in the Anglo-American literature. Special attention is given to examination of concepts that interpret space as encompassing both, physical and symbolic components, which create the concepts of space as the network of relations. Particular interest of researchers towards determination of interconnection between the communities, their habitats and weakening of these interconnection in the process of globalization. Analyzing the problem of the “sense of place”, the author refers to the concept of design of space. Characteristics is given to different positions on the question of correlation of landscape and space. The authors highlight actively developing phenomenological approach towards studying cultural landscape. Since the metaphor of palimpsest is crucial in disclosure of the essence of landscape, consideration of space as a multilayered phenomenon that incorporates past and current functions, ideologies and physical contexts as an intertext, is demonstrated. The conclusion is made that one of the most promising trends is the understanding of landscape space as relational, when the landscape is viewed as a product of practice, trajectory and interconnection. Relational representations on the constantly changing world to a significant extent are formed by the actor-network theory, the “theory of becoming” or “new vitalism”, and hybrid geography. The actor-network theory is intended for overcoming the perceptions of world as comprised of discrete and limited objects, and suggest seeing the world comprised of networks. Each object or person can be interpreted as the cumulative result of network relations, and the sense of individuality and will is merely a relational effect.

Abstract: The subject of the study is the institution of the ancient Indian dispute, the theoretical understanding of which has become part of the doctrines of all religious and philosophical schools. The “Shraman period” (5th century BC) is considered in detail, during which there was a sharp controversy between religious and philosophical schools, during which effective methods of conducting disputes “crystallized” and developed argumentative normativity. It is shown that the pluralism and diversity of ontological models that existed in the spiritual culture of that time were reflected in the logical and epistemological doctrine - pramana-vada. Thus, in the first (pre-logical) period, epistemological and logical questions were raised within the framework of anvikshika, “the science of conducting public disputes,” and the widespread culture of philosophical disputes and their actual practice were completely determined by the original cultural context. The argumentative canon of the Nyaya school is analyzed, the categories of the Indian and Western European traditions are compared, illustrating the discussion, in particular, of the Aristotelian syllogistic and the Nyayak five-term syllogism, the doctrine of the dispute between the ancient Chinese school of the late Mohists and ancient Chrya. The productive methodological ideas of the polemical strategy of conducting philosophical disputes in late Buddhism are revealed, the role of the dual unity of proof and refutation, as well as examples, questions and tricks, as topoi of the ancient Indian culture of dispute is shown.

Abstract: Values formed in culture, reflecting social relations, fulfilling a regulatory role, are defined as norms fixed in the culture of society. Moral norms that combine such properties of morality as normativity, imperativeness and evaluativeness act as significant foundations of culture. Values and norms enshrined in culture contribute to the integration and spiritual development of society The transformational processes taking place in modern society have influence on the value system. The relevance of this study is determined by the dialectic of emerging contradictions in modern Russian culture caused by the formation of ambivalent values, norms, and attitudes in mass culture that have a negative impact on collective consciousness, on changing the value foundations of culture in modern society, which jeopardizes the safety of culture. In the focus of the analyzed problem, kitsch culture as a phenomenon of mass culture acts as the subject of research. The purpose of the study is to identify threats to cultural security coming from kitsch culture, which transforms the value foundations of culture, and to identify strategies to protect Russian culture. The study of the voiced issues is carried out through the prism of socio-cultural, structural-functional, interdisciplinary approaches. The novelty of the studied problem lies in the fact that kitsch culture acts as a pseudo-culture, which is devoid of aesthetic and artistic value and moral content, as one of the sources that creates certain risks and poses threats to cultural security. In particular, we are talking about the organization of joint activities of government agencies, public organizations, scientific, cultural and educational spheres, based on the principles of optimizing the constructive impact on the consciousness of the younger generation through the mediation process and inculturation.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the emergence and development of Yakut cinema. The object of the study is the Yakut cinema as a phenomenon of national culture. The first appearance of film installations in the Yakut region at the beginning of the XX century is considered. Attention is drawn to the process of mass cinematography in Soviet times. In parallel, the inclusion of Yakut people in the creative process of participating in the first filming at All-Union film studios in the 1930s is traced. Attention is also drawn to the prominent role of the Yakutkino State Trust, which led the development of Yakut cinema. The author analyzes the reasons for the rapid development of Yakut cinema in the post-Soviet period, related to the appeal to the traditions of the Sakha people, the high level of development of theatrical art in Yakutia, artistic and aesthetic needs and spiritual demands of the audience. The article shows the role of "Sahafilm" in the history of Yakut cinema.   The characteristic features of the formation of genres of journalistic cinema, the change of repertoire in the early years of Soviet cinematography and during the Great Patriotic War are revealed. The characteristic features of the post-war reconstruction of the technical equipment and training of personnel of the Yakut cinema are outlined. The genre diversity of films shot during this and subsequent times is shown, when, along with documentaries, feature films also begin to be shot. The development of Yakut cinema is traced against the background of all-Union and all-Russian processes. The formation and development of the main institutions of Yakut cinematography, the growth of the skill of its figures are examined through famous films created by them. Afanas'ev S.V. - The subject of research is the construction of substrate-attribute model information of substrate information culture. The object of study is information culture as a socio-cultural phenomenon. pp. 71-88

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.1.23916

Abstract: The subject of this research is the establishment of substrate-attributive model of the information substrate of information culture. The object is the information culture as a sociocultural phenomenon. The work substantiates the idea that information culture has an information substrate, represented in three elements: civil, social, and anthropological; information, sociality, values, norms, traditions, subjectivity, objectivity, and virtuality are considered its attributes; the generic diversity  of information culture determines its modes. This work is continuation of research of the phenomenon of information culture in the articles of the scientific journals "Philosophical Thought" and "Conflict Studies" of the Nota Bene publisher. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the author substantiated the necessity and possibility for establishing a substrate-attributive model of the nature of information culture, which allows defining its basic structural elements, properties, specificity, as well as reveals the factors and mechanisms of origination and development of such sociocultural phenomenon. The conducted research will be valuable in further examination of the impact of information culture upon the transformation of generic qualities of a person: consciousness, activity, communication, and language in the conditions of evolvement of the information society.

Balakireva T.A. - Speculative fiction in modern culture: experience of absurdity pp. 71-81

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.9.27182

Abstract: The author examines the role of speculative fiction as a cultural genre for detecting the grounds for its demand by the modern reader. Speculative fiction attracts its reader because its produces anxiety in his consciousness; its conceptual content instigates to constantly make a choice in favor or against the concordance of the events in media reality. The foundation for irreality (and the interest of audience) becomes the phenomenon of absurdity, which in the modern oeuvres is reflected in two levels: the direct encounter with the supernatural phenomenon of the text that causes the fluctuations with regards to reality; and the more profound identification of absurdity of the events in the text with absurdity of the reality that turns attention of the subject towards the most complicated questions of existence in the society. Namely such model of structuring the narrative allows the reader, who is interested in the literature on supernatural, to acquire a new experience of absurdity, first at the stage of meeting the irreality of the text, and then in returning to the absurdity of medial culture. The scientific novelty lies in clarification of the status of absurdity in modern culture based on the examples of the speculative fiction literature. A conclusion is made that the phenomenon of absurdity, which manifests as the grounds for supernatural aspect of the plot of this genre and a part of social being of the subject of culture, attains the constituting features with regards to media reality.

Dzhabrailova A.S. - From archetype of simulacrum pp. 72-77

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.4.25968

Abstract: This article is dedicated to the morphogenic element of culture and analyzes its transformation within passage of time. The author demonstrates the interaction between the creating force of the archetype and secularizing force of the simulacrum on the specific examples of transformations of the cultural phenomena and orientations. Ethnic dance and traditional ornaments are viewed as the archetypes of culture; the tendency of their transformation into simulacrums is subjected to analysis. The comparison of “archetype – simulacrum” is based on the close relation of these two concepts with Plato’s Idea, but the author make an accent on the positive aspect of simulacrum marked by G. Deleuze. The author applies poly-paradigm approach that includes dialectical and phenomenological methods, and considers archetype as a phenomenon and soul of the culture. The article also uses the principles of hermeneutic analysis that reveals the nonverbal languages of manifestation of the culture. The scientific novelty consists in introduction of the pair of opposing forces of the archetype and simulacrum as an instrument for analyzing the cultural phenomena. It application demonstrates the effectiveness of referring to the cultural unconscious for positive influence upon the development and preservation of the uniqueness of culture. It is suggested to examine the activation of archetype underlying the foundation of cultural phenomena as a method of counteracting simulation and thoughtless imitation.

Abstract: The subject of the article is the philosophical and cultural methodology of digital "virtual reality", comparing the declarations of developers with the practical possibilities and social consequences of using such technologies. The developers presented projects of online digital content services for all five senses using special equipment (glasses, headphones, interactive gloves, joysticks, costumes, printers of smells and tastes, etc.). It was assumed that virtual reality would surpass the reliability of previous multimedia content and interactive computer games, and the persuasiveness and attractiveness of traditional technical means of art and the press. Failure to fulfill these promises has led to significant losses since 2022 for leading companies developing digital virtual reality technologies Meta (recognized by the court as an extremist organization on 03/21/2022, activity is limited in the territory of the Russian Federation), Microsoft HapticLinks, Cave, AlloSphere, Teslasuit, VRealizer. There was a need to assess how and to what extent the methodology used and the predicted capabilities of digital virtual reality were correct. Philosophical and cultural analysis as a research method reveals: the developers of digital virtual reality promised the methodologically impossible, reducing human perception to the "sum" of the external "five senses" out of connection with the "self", inner sensitivity, bodily self-perceptions. A person is only partially amenable to algorithmized digital interaction; a critical barrier to digital virtuality is the socio-cultural identity of society and personality. The novelty of the results of the analysis lies in the conclusion: digital virtual reality in many respects is fundamentally inferior in effectiveness to traditional technical means of sensory and emotional impact and cognition, used both for creative and destructive purposes. In terms of creative potential, digital virtual reality is inferior to the technical means of art, science, education, upbringing, etc., and in terms of destructive capabilities, it is already used in the press and other mass communications technologies for manipulating public and individual consciousness, as well as psychotropic substances that cause addiction. National regulation of the development of digital "virtual reality" is recommended, aimed at protecting and developing the socio-cultural identity of Russian citizens and society, as well as for cognitive and educational purposes. It is recommended to limit the remote use of such developments to trusted domestic Internet services.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2018.6.25679

Abstract: The Russian intelligentsia as a sociocultural phenomenon in its presents stage is an important and insufficiently studied problem. In the middle of 1960’s it has already become an object of research among the national specialists, and still remains a subject for discussion. Over the recent 25 years, a wide circulation obtained the statement that the occurred problems resulted in disappearance of intelligentsia, i.e. a special sociocultural phenomenon that existed in the Soviet Union until the Revolution of 1917. The publications were replacing the term “intelligentsia” with the notion “intellectual class”, meaning the population of persons with a certain level of education that significantly differ from the rest. Thus, special relevance acquires the question whether or not intelligentsia retains as a sociocultural phenomenon or have had its day. The authors lean on the works of Russian thinkers of the XIX century – philosophers, historians, economists, as well as the current level of theoretical knowledge on intelligentsia and the analysis of actual processes taking place in the modern Russian society. A conclusion is made that in modern Russia, intelligentsia still remains as a social group and legitimately considered a special sociocultural phenomenon. An attempt is made to carefully analyze the intellectual and educational, ethical and moral, and cultural aspects that characterize the affiliation to intelligentsia.

The concepts of tourism and gastronomic tourism and their state in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are studied. The problems of popularization of national cuisine are touched upon. The article is devoted to the promotion of Yakut cuisine at the interregional and international levels. The necessity of promoting the food culture of the Yakut ethnic groups on the basis of participation in gastronomic festivals is identified and justified. The fundamental methodology for the study is a descriptive method, which includes the method of observation, interpretation, comparison, generalization. The presented article is relevant due to the fact that currently in modern culture there is a growing interest in the field of everyday food culture. Abstract: Thematization of Self in the culture of Late Enlightenment and its ideological opponents is a complete plot. Being one of the basic intuitions of the New Time, Self is included in the new context of cultural studies. It leads to the conf lict between the old conception of the substantial Self and the new conception of an active empiric individual. The victorious romanticism model tears down the principle of the united Self.

Abstract: This article analyzes the approaches towards the phenomenon of culture and cultural policy in Russian during the post-Soviet period. This stage of the Russian history undergoes criticism in the national literature, however, such approach is considered one-sided. Particularly, the phenomenon of culture became an object of intense theoretical interest. Culturology was included into the educational curriculum. Its origination in Russian can be regarded as a substantial achievement of the humanitarian thought. The discipline aroused interest towards the realities of culture alongside the multiple cultural phenomena. The author applies the method of historicism, which allows comparing the theoretical concepts pertaining to culture in Soviet and post-Soviet periods. For the first time in national literature, an attempt is made to trace the history of cultural-philosophical reflection in Russia – from the classical works of A. F. Losev, M. M. Bakhtin, and V. S. Bibler to emergence of the new discipline in program of the state educational standards. The author tracks the milestones of establishment of the culturological knowledge and its relation to the philosophy of culture. Special attention is given to the critical analysis of the Eurocentrism, which narrows down the horizons of the historical-cultural process. The author also attempts to reveals the essence of cultural policy in Russia in the post-Soviet period. It is worth noting that such experience attracts interest in many foreign countries, particularly Chine. The article contains critical assessment of multiple parties of this policy.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2017.9.23686

Abstract: The subject of this research is the phenomenon of spirituality of the Russian culture from the perspective of its national cultural specificity. The work analyzes the metaphysical aspect of spirituality of the Russian culture. Appealing to the opinion of national philosophers, the authors substantiate the position that specificity of spirituality of the Russian culture consists in its orientation towards the absolute values, the national meaning of which is defined by Orthodoxy. In particular, the introduced by Orthodoxy idea of transformation of human and world, became the foundation for spiritual unity of the multifaceted Russian culture. The reflection of ontological essence of spirituality in the Russian culture was indicated through unification of spirituality with love, when the love manifests as a condition for integrity of a human and his spiritual evolution. Namely such perception of spirituality in many ways justified the metaphysical essence of the Russian culture. Methodological foundation contains the principles of cultural-historical and logical examination of the sociocultural phenomena. Historical-genetic method determines the cause-and-effect linkage that reveal the establishment of a specific type of spirituality of the Russian culture, which opens the highest purposes and ways for self-realization of a human. The scientific novelty consists in substantiation of a position on the metaphysical meaning of spirituality of the Russian culture as the national specificity, and can be formulated in the following conclusions:   Russian spirituality has its own sociocultural origins and traditions, among which the Orthodoxy holds a substantial place; particularly, it reveals the ontological meaning of spirituality in the Russian culture, which consolidated as a universal principle of harmonious world structure; Based on the Orthodox representation about the axiological importance of spirituality, it is apprehended within the Russian culture as realization of transformation of the bodily or mental human structure, which is associated with cognizing the essence of spirituality and regularities of its development through mastering the universal path of transformation – the divine love that in the Russian philosophy is explicated as the moral and ethical keynote of spirituality.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of the naming crisis of modern society. The sequences by which the social and cultural history of the West is ordered, represented by the evolution of economics, technology, religion, forms of capital and wealth, communications, following the technological acceleration of time, coexist with each other, compete for primacy, creating a society of atomized subjects who have ceased to understand their place in the history of society. This situation is described in the article as an identity crisis. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate the gaps that have been discovered in attempts to identify society, which are the object of criticism. The article refers to the tradition of explanatory modeling of social interactions in terms of psychopathology and psychiatry. The crisis of the identity of society is illustrated through the images of madness in modern art culture. The article hypothesizes that there is an unspoken ban on naming a society associated with the crisis of capitalism in the transition from disciplinary societies to control societies. Culture's interest in insanity serves as an indicator of a social crisis. The evolution of cultural interest in the figure of a madman from a frightening "outcast" to an attractive "rebel" is shown. The article suggests the tasks of critical philosophy that coincide with the tasks of caring for social health. The idea of the need for the deprivation of mental illness is expressed. Mental health care is considered as a social task.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.1.66116

Abstract: In his article Kudaev examines one of the most important topics in Berdyaev’s creative heritage – philosophy of culture. The novelty of the research is caused by the fact that this subject is viewed in terms of Berdyaev’s concept of tragedy which was the ‘first phenomenon’ for the philosopher and allowed him to understand metaphysical grounds of being and existence including being and existence of culture. This is the subject of the present research article. Kudaev demonstrates that Berdyaev’s tragedy of culture was not only related to creativity in general and the tragedy of creativity in particular but was also determined by those. Kudaev also analyzes the main internal contradictions between culture and the cult that were viewed by Berdyaev as a source of culture and a reason of its religious tragedy at the same time as well as contradictions between culture and life in general. The research is of integrated nature at the confluence of cultural studies, philosophy, esthetics, religious studies and history which, in its turn, has determined a complex historical-philosophical and philosophical-cultural methodology. The scientific novelty of the article is caused by the fact that the author reconstructs the basic provisions of Berdyaev’s philosophy of culture exclusively from the point of view of Beryaev’s concept of tragedy.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2017.4.22593

Abstract: This article reveals and structures the key stages of the “oblivion of being” in the history of philosophy. The final refusal of it became the transcendental phenomenology of Husserl. It became the first earthly experience of emergence of post-human form of thinking as a speculative-philosophical provision of information revolution. Logos and macro-reality depart under the pressure of digitalism and virtualism. The world is real as an identical to itself Thought. There takes place the refusal of being as thingness and resistance in favor of being as the relations that can be cognized through its predestination and “reshuffle” to Nothingness. Preservation of human vital world must lean on the substantial (realistic) phenomenology – phenomenological substantialism. The author depicts the boundaries of such new methodology, and introduces the notion of phenomenon-substance (ontophany) that contradicts to the principle of scientific-reductionist modelling of the world. It is illustrated that being cannot be reduced to any form of knowledge. In such case, it would be a different reality. In light of the task for reconstructing philosophy, the author assesses the modern state of phenomenological movements, reveals the essence of anthropological conservatism as an ideology of preservation of “our realization” of the possible worlds, as well as introduces the concept of “eternal renewal of one and the same”.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2017.11.22601

Abstract: This article analyzes the phenomenology of art of R. Wollheim and the true meaning of paintings. The object of the research is the visual art with its immensely rich world. Visual art is one of the forms of interaction using the visual images. The subject of the research is the representation of paintings of the Soviet realism era through the prism of R. Wollheim’s concept. The author thoroughly examines the concept of the model of thought (Ur-painting), according to which painting is an intentional action that suggests the existence of such thing as a universal human nature, which unites an artist with his audience. The concept of R. Wollheim fulfills the phenomenological reduction, isolating the essence of art as an activity. Visual art sends us to the thematizing factors that are an integral part of the act of providing with meaning, and directly associated with the artist’s intention. The author pursues correlation between the perception and interpretation of paintings based on the example of the work by Aleksandr Deyneka “The Skiers”, comparing the view of a modern person and a person from the social realism era. A conclusion is made that the painting is perceived differently from the perspective of a person of socialist realism and a person of present time: a “collective individual” is inspired by the painting, it mobilizes his efforts, reflecting a mental state of the artist. In the XXI century, the audience gives assessment to the composition structured by the artist, as well as space and artwork in general.

Abstract: The subject of this work is the worldview of subculture and its complex interaction with the elements and structure of these groups. To do this, various types of subcultures are analyzed in detail in order to identify their unique ideological features and characteristics. The main purpose of the research is to find links between the worldview of subcultures and their structural elements, as well as to understand the impact of these links on socio-cultural processes. By analyzing these issues, the study seeks to expand our understanding of subcultural dynamics and their place in the modern sociocultural context. The results of this work can be useful for further research in the field of anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, as well as for the development of practical strategies for managing and supporting subcultural communities. To achieve the goals of the study, an anthropological analysis of subcultures is used, which includes an analysis of synchronous and diachronic aspects of the subcultural worldview, as well as comparative analysis. The scientific novelty of this work is manifested in a deep and comprehensive analysis of the diversity of types of worldview representation in various subcultures and their impact on a wide range of socio-cultural processes. The analysis presented in the study reveals unique aspects of the subcultural worldview and its diverse manifestations, which not only contributes to a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics of modern society, but also expands our knowledge of the mechanisms of formation and functioning of subcultural communities. The conclusions of this work are important both for academic research in the field of anthropology and sociology, and for practical applications, for example, those aimed at effective management and support of subcultural groups in modern society, including the development of policies and programs that promote inclusivity, cultural diversity and socio-cultural harmony.

Abstract: The article examines the phenomenon of conformism in the context of socialist realism, which for a long time was the main direction for the Soviet art sphere. Conformism is interpreted as an effective way for the artist to optimize relations with the authorities and society, giving the opportunity for social self-preservation. Conformism is a kind of strategy for artists, thanks to which they manage to achieve their creative goals and successfully exist within the established cultural framework. The author of the article argues that conformism helped artists who put their creativity at the service of socialist realism to find some basis for their activities, because socialist realism did not initially have such a basis. The author comes to the conclusion that in the conditions of constant transformation of cultural requirements and the need to fully comply with them, conformism becomes for the artist not just a tactic in achieving creative goals, but also a kind of self-defense mechanism that allows to preserve mental and physical health. The most successful Soviet artists were able to realize their talent by creating many bright works of art due to the fact that they created precisely in the mainstream of socialist realism, and if it were not for it, perhaps the world would never have known about some outstanding Soviet artists, as well as not seen their works of art, since the realization of Soviet artists in another cultural environment might well not have taken place.

Bushido is considered an unwritten code of the samurai, digest of the rules and recommendations of an “ideal warrior”, who puts honor and dignity of his personality at the top. Bushido initially originated in form of general principles of a samurai-warrior, but due to its transformations was complemented by the ethical norms, and has finally established by the XVI – XVII centuries in form of the unwritten code of samurai ethics. The notion of dignity is one of the problematic philosophical questions in all cultures, but acquires a special role in philosophy of the East. Method of this research is the philosophical analysis of Bushido. In conclusion, the author determines the religious and philosophical grounds of Bushido, as well as analyzes its transformation in Eastern culture. The scientific novelty consists in comparative analysis of the Eastern culture of samurai and European culture of the medieval knighthood. The author also identifies the differences in these cultures alongside their cultural and ethical foundations.

Abstract:   The subject of this research is the process of subjectification from the perspective of M. Foucault: the formation of subjectivity inevitably begins since the moment of appearance of a human and continues throughout his entire life; genuine subjectivity is achieved by an individual in the mature age, but still not in the absolute. At the same time, the subject indicates the achieved a certain existential level individual, who undergone an evolutionary triad of subjectification: individual – personality – subject (A. V. Pavlov). Phenomenological approach allowed intuitively, precisely, descriptively, and analytically establish the differences and lead to clarity the phenomena of conscious life. The scientific novelty consists in the selection of initial point – the period of infancy of an individual, and suggests to focus on the problem of self-identification (finding the true identity) of a subject, which is expressed by J. Lacan in a so-called mirror stage, as well as the triad of Lacanian registers that indicate its peculiarities, and the process of institutionalization of a subject, universally and totally grasping the entire field of subject’s action. The author also plans to examine the proposed by M. Foucault self-practices that thoroughly explain the process of self-positing of a subject, as well as intersubjectivity, when the view and response of the Other is important for the formation of Self.

Abstract: The subject of this article is the modernity that is perceived as an immanent experience by a subject of its time, reflection over it, and creation in current temporality of the new symbolic space (the “big Other” in terminology of J. Lacan and S. Žižek). At the same time, the new symbolic register is created through the polylogue of subjects that interact on the temporal-rhizome platform in accordance with Theory of Communicative Action (J. Habermas). The object of this work is the subject of modernity – an attempt to provide its essential characteristics. The main conclusion of the conducted research lies in a particular view of modernity and subject of modernity. Thus, it is suggested to understand modernity as a situation, in which a subject faces the problematic of its own being and is obligated to give certain “answers” to the “challenges” before him, leaning on the resources of cogito and polylogue with other subjects. A subject is suggested to be considered a social actor with the following characteristics: ability to transformation (construction and reconstruction) of the symbolic order (J. Lacan), solid ethical position (ethics in understanding of I. Kant and ethical stage of S. Kierkegaard), pursuing the particular self-practices (M. Foucault), creativeness (utopic project as a version of the future structure), and intersubjectivity (existential polylogue between the subjects on the established polyfocal platform. However, it is implied to distinguish a subject from an individual and personality, depicting it as a highest stage of human evolution, at which he creates culture in cooperation with others.

Abstract: The article deals with the symbolic meanings that the images of America and Switzerland have in the works of F.M. Dostoevsky. It is shown that the meanings of these two images are interconnected and constitute a dialectical contradiction, and each image, in turn, has two contradictory meanings - positive and negative. America acts, on the one hand, as a symbol of the openness and freedom of man, his desire to build the future on his own, but, on the other hand, it expresses a dead-end path of development based only on material values. Switzerland embodies the ideal of spiritual development, which is the inner essence of European civilization, but at the same time it symbolizes the patriarchal, sinless state of man, which does not correspond to real earthly life. Switzerland is the ideal of the heavenly state of an earthly person, but this ideal is impossible in real life. The tragedy of the impracticability of this ideal is most clearly demonstrated by Dostoevsky through the story of Prince Myshkin in the novel The Idiot.

Abstract: The appearance of the screen as a social and cultural phenomenon is closely related to the idea of the daily life of the Chinese, which includes folklore, as well as cultural and folk traditions. The paintings, the plot of which is a screen, reflect a unique Chinese aesthetic concept and the author's view of life and values. In addition, the properties of the screen can be studied from different angles: from a practical piece of furniture to an abstract art form. The focus of this article is the images of the screen in the pictorial art of China. The purpose of the study is to identify the cultural and philosophical meanings behind these images. The novelty of the research is connected with the chosen perspective: such a complex phenomenon of Chinese culture as a screen is viewed through the prism and in close connection with the traditions of Chinese pictorial art. In the course of the study, a conclusion was made about the manifestation of religious-philosophical, ideological, moral and aesthetic ideas of the Chinese in the images of the screen. In addition, the educational role of these images, which carry an educational function, is determined. A special contribution of the author can be called the identification of Confucian and Taoist ideas symbolically embodied in the images of the screen in Chinese painting. In general, the screen in this work is considered as a key to understanding of the deep meanings of traditional painting.

Abstract: The subject of the research in this article are certain aspects of the "philosophy of culture" of the prominent thinker, theologian, historian of Russian thought Georgy Vasilyevich Florovsky, which influenced the evolution of his worldview. Special attention is paid to the facts of the "European" period of his biography, the analysis of his "Eurasian" works, as well as his assessments of the philosophical concepts of some Russian thinkers and calls for the conversion of the process of cultural creativity to spiritual principles. Particular attention is paid to the content of the discussion that unfolded between G.V. Florovsky, N.S. Trubetskoy and (in absentia) N.Ya. Danilevsky on the problem of the status of "universal culture" and the mutual influences of cultures. The study reveals the philosophical nuances of the evolution of G. Florovsky's views as a "Eurasian" author based on his own works and the assessments contained therein. Scientific literature often emphasizes the influence of Eurasian ideology on G. Florovsky, expressed, in particular, in his ideas about culture and cultural creativity. However, based on the analysis of the material presented in the article, the author comes to the conclusion that G.V. Florovsky, although he was a member of the Eurasian circle, on some significant issues differed from the main direction of development of the Eurasian ideology presented by E. Trubetskoy.

Abstract: Concept of fractality in the post-nonclassical philosophy of culture This article suggests a concept of cultural fractality as a theoretical instrument of description and modelling of the “chaotic” dynamics of sociocultural processes. The subject of this research is the culture, which is examined from the perspective of post-nonclassical philosophy as a complicated linear system that is based on the principles of self-similarity and autopoiesis. The goal of this work is the determination of the evristical abilities of the developed by the author concept, according to which the fundamental definitions of the fractal geometry – fractal, fractal patterns, multifractal, strange attractors – in their philosophical reasoning can be used in the explanatory model for a number of sociocultural phenomena. From the perspective of the concept of fractality, the observed on different levels of cultural system repeating patterns of the ancient and modern sociocultural practices, are interpreted as a part of a conceptual (multi) fractal of the entire local, and even world culture. The main conclusion consists in the fact that within the terms of fractal patterns and strange attractors we can analyze separate cultural phenomena (for example, modern urban culture), sociocultural processes, which simultaneously carry “chaotic” and “cyclic” character (sociocultural transmission, “algorithms” of spread and changes of fashion, etc.), as well as the entire historical dynamics of culture in both, its local versions, as well as in the most broad dimension of the global sociocultural development. The concept of fractality explains the variety of local cultures in the world, and the simultaneous stability and uncertainty of the cultural-historical process, as well as periodic reproduction within culture and society of the symbolic patterns of previous eras.

Bakhova, N.A., Zhukovsky, V. I. - The Renaissance Culture as a Space of Representative Relationship between Human and God pp. 152-163
Abstract: The article studiesthe phenomenon of Renaissance from the point of view of the representative relationship between human and God. Generalization of accumulated experience in researching the Western Europe Renaissance discovered the unique integration of religious and social basis of that period in culture. Analytical review of the spectrum of modern interpretations and original conceptions of philosophers-humanists allowed to describe the features of perfect human and perfect God during the Renaissance culture. Dialectical relationship between human and God are concretized in the ‘Son of God’ concept discussed in a number of N. Kuzansky’s works. In works by philosophershumanists God is revealed and understood only through the ideal (representative) relationship with the human. According to the synthetic conception ideal representation is typical for all relations where the sides try to go beyond their own limits and to display itself through the other. The study of Renaissance in Western Europe from the point of view of the ideal relationship helps to define the conceptual grounds for the mechanism of revival in culture of Renaissance as well as cultural ideals showing search and reestablishment of relations between human and God.

Abstract: The subject of this research is evolution of the idea of all-encompassing unity, while the object is the forms of the idea at different stages of civilizational development (mythology, philosophy, art, mass culture). The author examines the transformative potential of the idea of all-encompassing unity and its special importance under the conditions of elevation of the global problems. The history of this spans several centuries, which testifies to its universality and exceptional value for the humanity. The article underlines that actualization of the idea of all-encompassing unity takes place in crisis, transitional eras. Analysis of the mythological, philosophical, and literary sources allows making conclusion about the panhuman importance of the idea of all-encompassing unity, as well as reveal its constructive potential. The scientific novelty lies in argumentation of the following position: new forms of the idea of all-encompassing unity emerge during the crucial stages of cultural development, change of paradigms, systems of values, and types of culture.

Abstract: The article characterizes the substantial level of sacralization of values in the spiritual culture of the Greater Altai. The main emphasis is placed on identifying the grounds for the sacralization of values. It is established that the world order is one of the bases of sacralization and simultaneously performs the function of consolidating cultural carriers. The key thesis of the research is the thesis that spiritual culture cannot be fully comprehended without reference to sacred values. In addition, the sacralization of values is considered as a condition for ensuring spiritual security and continuity of values and norms between generations of cultural carriers. The assessment of the spiritual potential of the culture of the Greater Altai is of great importance. The main conclusions of the study are the following provisions: 1) the sacralization of key values is carried out at the essential or substantial level, while the stages of sacralization are mainly "tied" to the religious and mythological development of culture and its value-normative system; 2) sacralization encompasses those value structures that acquire importance in human existence and are a factor in the integration of cultural carriers and their generations; 3 sacralization is the process of identifying specific value-semantic structures – they are attributed symbolic meaning, and they are also correlated with certain cultural codes, signs and texts.

Abstract: Cultural heritage, which serves as a substratum of national identity, forms the right of the state to its own sovereignty. The substantiated proof of the possibility of independence from other cultures and nations has relatively recently entered the conceptual field of the philosophy of culture. In January 2023, significant changes made to the Foundations of the state Cultural Policy took into account the concept of cultural sovereignty and, to the necessary extent, justified its high importance for the development of the state and society. The fundamental role of culture in the creation and development of the state has been repeatedly recognized as one of the priorities. It should be noted that even later this priority was not a Russian regulatory novel.   The purpose of the study is to consider a range of concepts and legal novels reflecting the sphere of cultural heritage. The long-term work of an extensive circle of philosophers and culturologists has been crowned with the recognition of the value of culture in the system of state regulation of various spheres of human activity. As a result of the research, the conclusion is made about the relevance and timeliness of the implementation of the most important philosophical concepts in strategic planning documents and the high potential practical significance of the actualization of cultural heritage in order to achieve the results of the state cultural policy. In conclusion, it is noted that heritage as a cultural phenomenon has direct access to its semantic and value core. The preservation of cultural identity through the consistent building of cultural sovereignty is one of the most important priorities of modern state policy.

Abstract: The object of the study is the culture of digital society, the subject is the ontological foundations of culture. The aim of the research is to reveal the ontological problems of cyberculture, which becomes the basis for a digital society with a virtual nature. In the modern world, the impact of digital technologies on human life has acquired an irreversible scale. The changes affected not only socio-economic relations, but also affected the sphere of personal relationships, information perception and cognitive processes of the individual. People are spending more and more time on the Internet, using social networks, using applications. We can talk about a new stage in the development of human civilization, the culture of which has its own special features. In this study, the culture of digital society is considered from a philosophical and ontological point of view. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that cyberculture is in the stage of its formation. Digital society is changing, Internet technologies are developing, new applications are appearing. All these processes require philosophical reflection and scientific analysis. A special contribution of the author to the study of the phenomenon of cyberculture and the ontologization of the culture of digital society, which has its own distinctive features, namely crisis, virtuality, technology. The main conclusions of the study are that cyberculture, the culture of communities based on the use of advanced information technologies, is postmodern in nature. The further development of digital technologies gives a chance to a person to overcome the limitations of the individual nature of the personality, but at the same time there is a great danger of losing generic features and ceasing to be a person in the classical sense.

Abstract: In the modern research literature, there is a discussion about what concept to designate the socio-cultural community of the Volga Germans. Having previously corrected some aspects of the definitions given by the researchers, the author came to the conclusion that it would be most correct to recognize the Volga Germans as an independent Russian-German ethnic group that does not have a clearly defined spatial autonomy, but has a place of compact residence. The second problem directly affecting the preservation of the identity of this ethnic group is the problem of preserving the native language. We also propose to analyze the definitions of the concepts "nation", "ethnos", "national (ethnic) minority". Special attention is paid to the problem of preserving the language as the basis of the cultural identity of Russian Germans, including Volga Germans. The article presents a plan for conducting a sociological study to identify quantitative and other indicators of the Volga Germans ethnic group at the present time in order to obtain an objective definition of the ethnocultural phenomenon "Russian Germans".

Abstract: This article is prepared based on the report made on the First Altai Forum “Codevelopment of the Society, Human, and Nature in the Context of Dialogue of Civilizations” (Altai Republic, May of 2014). This research discusses the principles of the attitude towards the environment and ecological problematics, contained in the foundations of the Christian doctrine, as well as those established in the world of Eastern Christianity. The reframing and reconceptualization of the notion of anthropocentrism in its correlation with the notion of theocentricism and christocentricism is being conducted. The precise identification within the range of all types of anthropocentrism of those which corresponds with Christianity and Orthodoxy, leads to a new perspective on the issue of “Christianity and ecology”. It is demonstrated that in the paradigm of Christian anthropocentrism, designation of a human includes a certain cosmic mission – activeness, turned onto the entire created world and aimed at transformation of its being. Further analysis reveals that this cosmic mission is isomorphic in its essence towards the ministry of a priest who performs liturgy, and therefore can be interpreted as a “cosmic liturgy”, the ideas of which were expressed by Maximus the Confessor back in the VII century. Based on that, the conceptual links between the ecology and asceticism are being determined.

Kudaev A.E. - Civilization Versus Culture in Nicholay Berdyaev's Philosophy

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.2.14151

Abstract: This article is the continuation of Kudaev's previous work "Nikolay Berdyaev’s Philosophy of Culture in Terms of His Concept of Tragedy" (published in 'Philosophy and Culture' Journal, Issue 1, 2015) in which Kudaev analyzes one of the most important topics in Berdyaev's creative heritage - his philosophy of culture. The novelty of the research is caused by the fact that this subject is viewed in terms of Berdyaev’s concept of tragedy which allows  to understand metaphysical grounds of being and existence including being and existence of culture. This is the subject of the present research article. The article is focused on one of the most paradoxical contradictions of culture: the ontological conflict with life itself, tragic opposition to existence and inevitable transition of culture into civilization. Kudaev shows their internal relationship and tragic antagonism which Berdyaev considered to be inevitable and which could be worded as follows: when society, represented by its prominent representatives, directs the creative energy to create cultural values, it is forced to restrict and even to suppress the will to live, to sacrifice the "thirst for life" to culture. On the contrary, when the society has the "will to live" and the thirst for power and strength, then culture is sacrificed. This antagonism can't be overcome and generates, in its turn, a whole number of contradictions (between goals and means, the meaning of life and the meaning of existence, the creator and his creation) with all the ensuing consequences for the development of culture, civilization and the entire creative fate of human.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2013.3.62427

Abstract: The author of the article analyzes the phenomenon of multiculturalism from the point of view of politics and culture. The main idea is that multiculturalism is a totally political phenomenon with all the expected consequences. Interaction between cultures is the process that can be in contact with politics but be outside the politics at the same time. Multiculturalism offers not only ethnical variety but also interflow of cultures. Multiculturalism, in the first place, suggests ‘peaceful co-existence’ of separated cultures but not their interaction. The maximum target that can be reached under multiculturalism policy is the cultural tolerance. This is why multiculturalism promotes isolation from the point of view of the author However, such ‘peaceful’ isolation is rarely met in reality because separation of cultures create certain tension between them. This is why multiculturalism causes confrontation between cultures but not their mutual enrichment.

Abstract: The subject of this research is the texts of traditional folklore in its anthropological aspects, which reveal ontological-conceptual, symbolic-conceptual, and procedural-conceptual sides. Special attention is given to the analysis of specific position of the traditional folklore in the history of culture and contemporary cultural space, as well as to the description of various points of view upon this problem, which confirm the tendency of complication of the sociocultural existence. The author provides argumentation that the traditional folklore with regards to the modern culture, represents a rather controversial, complex, multi-aspect, and accelerated in its history phenomenon. The major goal of the article consists in the following: to prove the polysymbolic content of folklore actions and possibility of their realization under the conditions of modern culture, using the exemplificative approach. The author underlines the importance of using the methods of cultural anthropology. This article reveals the cultural concepts of the traditional folklore through the prism of anthropological constants and description of its symbolic sound.

Abstract: In his article Kuznetsov studies Leslie White's concept of culture and the definitions of civilization and culture offered by a Russian philosopher Merab Mamardashvili. The analysis of these authors' opinions make modern specialists pay attentino to the difference in the analysis levels. Kuznetsov discovers the main contradiction of Leslie White's theory (universal and multilineal cultural evolution). This conclusion as well as the results of the analysis of 'culture' and 'civilization' definitions offered by different authors have created grounds for the author's approach to the analysis of culture and civilization as a multilevel form of the anthropological universum. The research is based on the principles of complementarity, classification strategy and the main provisions of the systems paradigm including the classical definition of the structure and a number of provisions of social constructivism. The author's special contribution to the research of the topic is the deconstruction of the practice of using the concepts of 'culture' and 'civilization', discovery of their contradictions and ways to overcome these contradictions.  The novelty of the article is caused by the fact that the author analyzes Leslie White's theory of culture from the point of view of the systems paradigm, compares Leslie White's theory to Merab Mamardashvili's concepts of civilization and culture and offers to return the initial integrative meaning to the concepts of culture and civilization but also to compare these concepts at the different levels of interdisciplinary research.

Abstract: In the context of polarization of the modern scientific discourse with regards to the assessment of the historical roles and prospects of culture, this article examines the problematics related to the explication of essence and meaning of culturocentrism. Based on the critical analysis of the existing points of view, an idea is formed that in the scale of the global-historical trajectory of humanity – Syncretism of Primordiality – Cosmocentrism of Antiquity – Theocentricism of Medieval Times – Anthropocentrism of Renaissance – Naturocentrism of New Time – Sociocentrism Modern Time – Culturocentrism of Postmodern Time –, the latter can be understood as a quite regularly maturing in this list era of the positioning of culture as a constituting center of the belief system “human-world”. Based on the idea about the structural-functional homology of “rough cores” of the established “centrisms”, the author makes an attempt to model the attributive content of the culturocentric imperatives in ontological, methodological, anthropological, existential, practical, axiological, gnoseological, epistemological, and culturological projections. It is possible that at the present time, “history draws culture” towards where it itself “is being drawn” by culture; thus, each of us unaffected by the level and form of understanding, can be a participant or a creators of the extremely complicated and contradictory phenomena and processes that objectively take place  within the space of namely this attractor. The conclusion is made that the conceptual context of the discussed problematics includes a significant scientific, as well as practically life interest; and the problematics itself requires a serious conceptual study.

Abstract: "Humanity" doesn't descend from heavens with the Holy Spirit but comes through real animals (ancestors of the mankind) led by instincts. Humanity developed as a result of the need to release from total domination of reflex reactions, on the one hand, and opportunities predetermined by their phenotype, on the other hand. These were the real conditions of creation of the first historical form of culture – the cult. Involvement in cult actions transformed our ancestor into human, consciousness being one of his attributes.  Reconstruction of the initial forms of cult is based on successive comparison of ritual practices with the sensuality genesis separating human from animal as a being with a completely different perception of the world and feelings. As a new form of experience, cult (of motives, values, and derived emotions) sets priorities for the relations above material communications (thus creating its own "virtuality") and is a result of the defensive instinct when man began to focus on community values (as the way to general survival) and was deprived of established mechanisms of behavior, and therefore had to be based on common reactions and community relations.

Abstract: The object of this research is the religious culture and peculiarities of its implementation within the framework of such essential components as value, creative work, and freedom. The subject is the creative process and hierarchy of values in a specific form of their existence in the context of this type of culture. Creative work and value are examined as the fundamental components of culture as a whole and religious culture in particular. The author demonstrates the conditionality of the creative and value components of religious culture by the religious faith. Religious work in Christianity is represented in two of its varieties the divine and the human, the common essence of which is marked as the nearing of the divine and the human, their correlation based on the New Testament axiom “in His image and His likeness”. In creative process, a human who continues the work of the Creator, expands the limits of the being he is accustomed to, and determines the anthropomorphical essences of “universal doing”. The values of religious culture are imperative and ostensive, but can also have an axiological form of “eternal and saving soul” values as orienteers of structuring the work based on the unconditional requirements of the Absolute. The definition of specificity of religious culture through substantiation of the specific existence of the creative and value components within it, comprises the scientific novelty of this research. The specificity is religious culture is being clarified on the example of Christian Orthodox culture, which gives the key towards understanding the peculiarities of Russian culture.

Abstract: The subject of research in the article is the philosophical analysis of the axiodynamics of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia. Axiodynamic processes of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia are presented in accordance with their phenomenological and mental grounds and social conditions. A significant aspect of the study is the philosophical analysis of the "diffusion of values": the loss of old values and the emergence of new values, distorted perception of westernized values, etc. The subject of the research is specified in the following sections of the article: "Social conditions of axiodynamics of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia" and " Axiological crisis in terms of transformation of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia. "The research methodology involves the combination of axiological, socio-cultural and socio-ontological approaches. The content and structural processes of axiodynamics of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia are analyzed by using the combination of philosophical research methodology and the framework of categories and concepts and methods of social psychology and social cognitive science. The scientific novelty of the research is caused by the fact that the researcher identifies the following particula features of axiodynamics of social consciousness in post-Soviet Russia: 1) Axiological crisis has led to phenomenological, socio-gnoseogenic and structure-functional transformations of public consciousness in post-Soviet Russia those transformations in many respects reached crisis proportions; 2) all the basic axiological crises of modern Western culture were immanent for the post-Russian public consciousness although they gain the features of the socio-cultural environment and the cousrse of social transformations happening in post-Soviet Russia of those times; 3) from the point of view of structural and functional terms, the following four main processes occur in the axiological matrix: devaluation of traditional values; establishment of destructive values because of their roots in the unconscious mental formations; heavy structural assimilation of new values and fast adoption of new destructive values.

Abstract: The author of the present research article raises a question about the concurrence or nonoccurrence of historical development and cultural development. The author shows that history is a natural and rather spontaneous process of human development while culture is an associated type of being. Creating his own species, human eliminates spontaneity and naturality in his own development, creates the visibility of being and therefore turns history into culture. Human is not always satisfied with the culture because he does not have so much power to change the culture. In the article the author uses general scientific methods, in particular, hypothetical-deductive, analytical and comparative analysis methods. The author shares his own views on culture as something created by a subject. Creating his own species, human eliminates spontaneity and naturality in his own development, creates the visibility of being and therefore turns history into culture. Human is not always satisfied with the culture because he does not have so much power to change the culture. The author also shows that history is a natural and rather spontaneous process of human development while culture is an associated type of being.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2013.6.62763

Abstract: The research is focused on the phenomenon of authorship and transformation of this phenomenon in modern culture as a result of appearance of a new information-based type of culture and virtual environment. These cultural changes including new textual methods and methods of text reproduction, new writing resources, electronic texts and Internet hypertexts, new reading habits and etc. allow to see the authorship in a different light. Even though this can be considered to be an author’s ‘philosophical death’, modern culture still views an author as a creator and demiurge and, at the same time, it has a tendency to deprive of personal character and erase the uniqueness and authenticity of writing as well as dependence of text on virtual mediators. Modern information civilization has changed writing resources, reading habits and the dialogue ‘author-text-reader’ which led not only to transformation of the author’s function but also to appearance of new multi-media forms of virtual self-expression and creativity.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.6.15415

Abstract: The article conciders the processes taking place in the European culture of the second half of XIX — early XX centuries. Particular attention is given to the various manifestations of the crisis of the old system of art forms and gradual search for other ways except for established ways of reality transmission. Impressionist painters, French writers and poets developed a new understanding of art and its role in human life. During that period aesthetic appreciation and creative intuition rose to the level of the leading means of knowledge of reality. The present study has been carried out through successive selection of various cultural phenomena that allowed to describe changes not only in the arts but also in philosophy as artistic creativity of that period was closely related to the interest demonstrated by philosophers towards consciousness, intuition and new understanding of the category of time. The novelty of this study is caused by the fact that the researcher has identified what caused the failure of the previous model of reality perception when reality lost its unchanging and solid status and the boundary between the internal feelings and external reality increasingly blurred. From this point of view, philosophical concepts of Ernst Cassirer and Maurice Merleau-Ponty can be considered as the final stages of the process that orignated from the «impressionist» vision of the world.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of symbol and myth in Vyacheslav Ivanov’s philosophy. The author of the article defines peculiarities of philosophy of a Russian symbolist conditioned by his believing in the priority of belief and the second role of the rational thinking. The author describes peculiarities of the Medieval perception of the world that was reflected in Ivanov’s philosophy, too. The author also studies Vyacheslav Ivanov’s definition of symbol and the difference between Ivanov’s philosophy and French symbolism. The author describes several features of Friedrich Schelling’s works which made a considerable influence on Vyacheslav Ivanov as well. Studying Ivanov’s interpretation of myth from the point of view of its relation to a symbol, the author makes a hypothesis about special antinomic unity of symbol and myth. The author describes Ivanov’s thoughts on communicative features of myth and views the problem of the language expression of symbol as well as symbolic features of language.

DOI:

Abstract: In the current situation, it seems difficult to identify the underground culture of the Russian regions. At the same time, the underground culture is active and simultaneously coexists with the officially established by the cultural policy vector. Shifting away from the usual division of the "official/unofficial", the focus in determination of the underground culture was being switched onto spatial-timely perception of the modern representatives of the underground culture of Russian regions. This work used the methods of bibliographical analysis of the texts and scientific materials in the area of the underground art, deduction of the presented terminology, and based on this, synthesis of the new definition of the “underground” pertaining to the Russian regional culture as a whole. The author comes to a conclusion that the notion of “timelessness” in situation of the “era of transformation” becomes one of the defining aspects of the term “underground culture”, while the modern representative of the underground culture “goes into shadows” due to a strong persuasion that he is not capable of changing anything within the timely paradigm; however, the regional difference will consists just in the traditional understanding of time.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the transformation of the form and style of philosophical writing in culture over the past two centuries. The author of the article demonstrates the crucial importance of appealing to the experience of discussing the relationship between thought and word in philosophy after Kant, describes new factors influencing philosophical provisions in culture and emphasizes the need for the analysis of the relationship between conceptual and expressive means in the philosophy of Kant, German romanticists and Hegel. In his research the author has used the methods of historical and philosophical reconstruction and analysis, comparative historical and sociological methods and defined the main trends in the evolution of philosophical methods and the means of their expression in philosophical texts. The researcher proves the methodological and stylistic singularity of the Phenomenology of Spirit where the search for a new image of the authentic language of philosophy is based on studying the 'experience of mind' synthesizing the material obtained through spiritual human activity. The author underlines that these are the nettlesome issues for the philosophical community today due to the changed social and information environment as well as the need to find a new image of philosophical writing and communication within the philosophical community.

Abstract: The article contains analysis and critical evaluation of the worldview situation, which is supported by the government structures of the state. Among the dismaying worldview quillets, the author views the lowering of the role of philosophy as responsible free thinking in favor of dogmatism of religion; declarative objectivism of science and utilitarian — commercial type of thinking; introduction of elements of secular eschatology; the government favoring the efficiency principle in the issues of organization of social life. With the reference to the authentically philosophical worldview, as provided for by the expression of Heraclithus, the author formulates and provides basis for a number of specific challenges towards religious and churchly Christian views and practices, alliance of the church and government. The author supports the need and desirable character of metaphysically correct discussions between philosophers and theologians. It is pointed out that it is not acceptable and harmful to have a vulgar pragmatic approach to education and science. The text contains a number of references to the ideas of Niccolo Machiavelli with his non-servile and realistic view of human being and world.

Abstract: The object of this research is the transformations that take place with the notion of “mass culture” in the era of total digitalization. The subject of this research is the ecosystem of Twitter microblogging network as the space for formation of the new sociocultural and communicative paradigms. The author gives special attention to the complex analysis of the approaches of various scientific schools towards the definition of “mass culture”, as well as subjects to a detailed examination the influence of the means of mass communication upon it. The article reviews such aspects of the topic as preservation of individuality in the digital communicative environment, trend towards establishment of the sociocultural clusters in digital environment, as well as transformation of mass culture into the mass of parallel cultures. The scientific novelty consists in the initial level of development of the topic of formation of a specific communication sociocultural ecosystem in the Twitter microblogging network. Author’s special contribution lies in the analysis of the Russian language segment of Twitter particularly in sociocultural context, because the scientific research of this phenomenon are mostly dedicated to the examination of the linguistic and philological aspects.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2014.8.65402

Abstract: The article is devoted to the relation between violence and literature. The purpose of creative writing is, if not to overcome, then at least to define and describe the causes of violence that intertwined with all layers of social life from economy and politics to visual art and sexuality. Noteworthy that violence is viewed not as an ephemeral quality that can be controlled and regulated by law, morals, social mechanisms or ideology but as an immanent anthropological experience or internal quality of social life. The experience of violence determines social life from the bottom layers to the upper layers, from the violence in images and discursive violence to sexual harassment and using bodies for economic purposes. Based on the examples from Russian literature, first of all, Lev Tolstoy and Fedor Dostoevsky, the author of the article compares different theoretical approaches to the relation between creative writing and violence offered by T. Adorno, Yu. Kristva, V. Podoroga and others. In the article the author uses the method of the anthropological analysis of literature and art developed in the division of analytical anthropology at Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as the textual and comparative analysis of literary writings. The novelty of the research is in viewing the Russian literature as the anthropological experience of image production in response to violence and persecution in society. Literature and art interest the author because they are part of the modern socio-political process they do not only entertain or comfort or please us but also change us and the surrounding social reality.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2013.9.63149

Abstract: There have been obvious ups and downs in the development of the Russian culture. But despite discrete and catastrophic character of culture admitted by almost all researchers, Russian culture remains united and unique. The author of the article advances an idea that such unity is caused by the expansion of the central, ‘core’ ideals to the most of cultural spheres. Such ideals provide exceptional stability and sustainability. For Old Russia such ‘core’ ideals were based on Orthodoxy. However, along with Orthodoxy, Byzantium also gave Russia the theory and practice of Hesychasm –mystical and ascetic Orthodox tradition. Synergism is one of the main concepts of Hesychasm. Introducing the term ‘Synergism’ in his study, the author makes an attempt to describe the periods of golden age of the Russian culture from the point of view of the fullest expression of Hesychastic and Synergistic ideals. One of such periods fell upon the Old Russian culture, in particular, the XIV–XV centuries. It was the period when Russia adopted most of Hesychastic ideas form Byzantium which resulted in formation of a monastic culture, spread of the starets movement and expression of Hesychastic ideals in Andrey Rublev’s and Theophanes the Greek’s works, fresco painting, architecture of religious buildings and literature.

Lavrikova I.N. - Celebration: Needs and Functions

DOI:

Abstract: According to the author of the article, it is impossible to obtain a complete understanding of the essence of a socio-cultural phenomenon without answering the question about what needs this or that phenomenon satisfies. The solution of that issue with reference to the institution of celebration would allow to define all kinds of functions performed thereby.  It is quite obvious that the aesthetic sphere, being successfully included in such a cultural institution as celebration, does not only perform direct functions (enjoyment, education of taste, etc.) but also directly or indirectly contribute to the development of the political culture and impose ideological standards. In her research Lavrikova has ued the general scientific methods including typological and textual methods and systems approach for defining functions of celebration as a cultural institution. Based on the analysis of the key functions of celebration, the author establishes the main provisions to systematize concepts of celebration offered by different authors. As a result of studying functions of celebration, the author have defined 1) factors contributing to the implementation of the communicative function of a holiday as well as a political holiday, and 2) a special function of a political holiday based on which the author describes the main targets and tasks for a political holiday facilitator.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2014.9.65497

Abstract: There have been many researches of all kinds of notions and categories analyzing the role of these notions and categories in cognition and practical activity. However, not so much attention has been paid to measure although the importance of measure and proportion were recognized by philosophers long time ago. Ancient philosophers associated measure with the hidden feeling of the singularity of all. In the 20th century philosophers studied measure and focused on the quality and quantity, similarities and differences between them and assumed that the quantity and quality constituted the measure. When the measure as itself was analyzed, it was mostly the measures of object but not the category ‘measure’ itself being studied. The present article provides the results of the historical and cultural research based on analytical, diachronic and comparative research methods. The measure has a double nature if we view it as the principle of human activity. On the one hand, measure is what is described by the quantity according to Aristotle. This is the metric function of measure. The other aspect of measure is the quality with reference to these or those features. This is the evaluation or axiatic function. Both of these functions, metric and evaluation ones, expressed different opinions of human on the surrounding world.
Keywords: measure, quality, quantity, proportion, human as a measure, axiatic function, metric function, activity, sense of proportion, immensity.

DOI:

Abstract: The subject of this research is the memory as a part of public consciousness. The article examines its formations on the example of the works of one of the most renowned poets of the Soviet era Vladimir Mayakovsky. The author raises the question, how objectively does the poet reflect the historical reality, social phenomena, and events in his poetic ideas? We must acknowledge that the latest generations often base their perception about the revolution on his oeuvres and assessment of the events, and thus form their own. The main conclusion of the conducted research consists in the following: the topics, precise storylines, and created images in Mayakovsky’ poetry in best case scenario have emerged based on the slogans and promises, which accompanied the revolutionary October. The further practice of the Bolshevik reformations was far from the, and at times antithetical. However, the poet preferred not noticing it, having lived his life with wide shut.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.9.15713

Abstract: It is Georgy Fedotov's idea that just like a philosopher and historian, a poet performs educating and identifying functions and often appears to be a messenger of approaching changes. To what degree does this statement deserve to be treated seriously? It would be obviously unscientific to admit that a poet can play a role of a medium. On the other hand, many literary geniuses have been prophets. A good example is Lermontov and his poem 'Prophecy' written in 1830 when Lermontov spoke of a 'dreadful year of Russia' when 'the crown of Russia shall fall'. The subject of the present research article is Alexander Blok's poetic heritage, its conceptual and prophetic potentials. The method of analysis is Sergey Bulgakov's statement that a teacher can create his own interpretation of a poem through 'summarizing thoughts and impressions thereof' as well as Mikhail Bakhtin's idea that a person who perceives a poetical work also perceives its 'rhythm, intonation, articulatory tension, and internal gestures' and, thus, starts to 'think and live according to culture'. The novelty of the article (and the main conclusion) is that the author emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary research in the integrated analysis of Alexander Blok's poetical writing who, as he said himself, felt the future in the music of his poems. According to the author, such analysis could have been made by literary critics, poets and experts in musical creativity.

Abstract: The author of the article defines determinants of the problem situation around the mentioned topic such as contradictory definitions of culture, insufficient development of the framework of categories of philosophical reflection over culture, lack of description of particular patterns of cultural development and the need to clarify the difference between ‘civilization’ and ‘culture’, unsatisfactory researches of the influence of social practices on culture. As a solution of the aforesaid problems, the author answers the question whether philosophy of culture advances the idea of culture or utopia of the latter? From the axiological point of view, culture is viewed as the process of production and development of values and positive province of mankind. The moral idea of true humanity is presented by the author of the article as the sovereign ‘governess’ of culture. The author offers a definition of the subject of philosophy of culture and describes philosophical grounds, invariants and universals of philosophy of culture. The author also describes social culture and views introduction of the basic principle of explanation and production of culture and explication of cultural patters listed herein as the main contribution of philosophy to cultural studies.

Gibelev I.V. - Sacral and technical: image of the boundaries of cultural pluralities

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2016.11.17677

Abstract: The discussion of cultural pluralities causes difficulties in cultural philosophy, as well as philosophical anthropology, because the ontological status of plurality eludes the explaining and understanding examination. In such case, the criticism remains comprehensible. The positive interpretation will be considered accomplished, if concentrate on the boundaries of cultural pluralities. Explication of the phenomenon of boundary in the space of cultural pluralities is associated with understanding of interrelation between the sacral and technical spaces. They are subject to examination in the post-historical horizon, which change the ontological status of their boundary if compared to the classical culture. The two given by Aristotle fundamental definitions of boundary (boundary as differentiation-synthesis and boundary-limit) transform the connection between the technique and sacral into the hybrid unity. The scientific novelty consists in the attempt of a positive review of the cultural pluralities, formed by the intersection of sacral and technical spaces within modern culture. Such original spaces require the determination of a specific scale of their analysis. As the scale and simultaneously mechanism of the analysis, the author uses the concept of boundary. The work provides the description of a number of phenomenological signs of the boundary between the sacral and technical.

Abstract: Cultural policy is an integral part of Russia's development as a local independent civilization. The civilizational approach to the development of culture in Russia qualitatively alters the research of these processes and enables scenarios of its development. The author of the article provides a complete analysis of the civilizational approach in the form of tables. Trofimova also provides a comparative research of the differences between the civilizational and formational approaches and their application to civilization studies and cultural policy. The results of this analysis allow to foresee the development of the three scenarios: progression, retrogression and stagnation. This research examines the development of these scenarios in the cultural policy of the Russian civilization in the post-Soviet period. First the author suggests that we should research different scenarios of the development of the Russian civilization. Based on the results of that analysis, the author provides a detailed description of different scenarios of the development of cultural policy in Russia. Due to the fact that Russian civilization is now in the process of selecting a preferred scenario, in the coming years cultural policy will develop contradictionary and will aim at a more stable line of development. The novelty of the civilizational approach described and used by the author of the article is caused by the fact that the author views cultural policy as a special algorithm of local civilization. According to the author, this algorithm defines the further development of Russian civilization in many ways.

Abstract: The article is devoted to conceptual grounds of biography as a cultural text. The author of the article analyzes provisions of E. Levinas’ social ontology, the latter being an essential method of research of biography as a cultural text. Levinas’ methodology allows to conduct phenomenological assessment of sociality based on the attitude to the Other. The author of the article also analyzes such terms as ‘event’, ‘act’ and ‘acting/participating thinking’ offered by Mikhail Bakhtin in his theory of subjectivity. The author of the present article proves that it is possible to view the above mentioned problem from the point of view of the concept of the Other and philosophy of the act. The concept of ‘existence and co-existence’ offered by Mikhail Bakhtin as a method of viewing biography from the point of view of the ethic beginning. The author also concludes that Bakhtin’s philosophy of the act and Levinas’ social ontology as the main methods of analysis of biography as a cultural text. Addressing to Bakhtin’s and Levinas’ methods provide grounds for defining principles of mutual complementarity of the phenomenology of individual memory and sociology of collective memory. The author of the article also offers a strategy for analyzing biography as a cultural text.

Abstract: The subject of this research is the social-labor sphere, and the objects is the controversial trends in labor relations under the influence of the global sensory culture. The author demonstrates that labor as the integral social institution deflects the accumulated in society controversies, reveals their nature and genesis. It is illustrated that labor is able to raise the spirit and mood of the time, value dominants, prevailing behavioral orientations within it, as well as better understand the behavior of the subject of history, regardless of whether a person is involved into the labor relations or not. The author leans on the methodology of sociocultural fluctuations, which allows establishing the correlation between the dominant values and status of the social institutions. The main conclusion consists in the following: social form of labor at the current point in development of the society, which primarily reflects the values, ideals, and stereotypes of the behavior of sensory culture, is not adequate to the challenges of time or capable of resolving the pressing issue of present time: productive employment of population.

Abstract: The conversation with Alexander Lyusiy has been recorded within the framework of the editorial project 'Contemporary Russian Philosophy' and devoted to the modern trends in Russian philosophy and cultural studies. The culture expert Alexander Lyusiy offers his own research methodology - textological concept of Russian culture or the theory of local texts/supertexts. The aim of the concept is to create an important way of socio-cultural personality and society identification at the modern stage of Russia's history, i.e. to arrange for the 'search of models to structure the reality and creation of new entrances into this reality, which would allow to solve important tasks for human and society'. In his conversation Nilogov has used the methods of textological analysis offered by Lyusiy as well as the hermeutical approach allowing to interpet the current situation in Russian philosophy and cultural studies. Alexander Lyusiy proves his textological concept of Russian culture based on the examples of Crimean, Moscow, Siberian, Altai, Ural, Volzhsk, Samara and other regional supertexts. Thus, a text becomes a synonym of 'readability' of this or that cultural environment. Gnoseological (cognitive) metaphor of a text/supertext allows to analyze the human habitat as the sign-oriented sybmolic reality called semiosis, or, more properly, semiocenosis.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.12.17173

Abstract: The article considers the synthesis of arts as a phenomenon that has spread to different areas of culture and art in the second half of the XIXth — early XXth centuries. It was during that period when the other visual language and new forms of perception of art were formed. In her article Nikiforova analyzes the basic sources of the idea of Gesamtkunstwerk and various forms of its realization: mythologizing as a special way of thinking, ontologization of art, the desire to go beyond the purely artistic imagery, aesthetic dimension of humanism, synthetic thinking and universalism of the artist. Particular attention is given to the historical and cultural context throughout the XIXth century, beginning with the views of the Jena Romantics, Wagner’s theory of music and ending address to the creativity of Art Nouveau artists and innovators of the theater scene. The investigation also considers the problem of emergence of new forms of artistic creation. The analysis of the key trends reveals the importance of the idea of synthesis of arts for culture in a broad perspective: from philosophy, poetry and literature, architecture and fine art to design, new trends in the theatre research and cinematography.
