Mit'ko A.E. - Mission Actor's Research Field pp. 1-7

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2019.5.29688

Abstract: The renewal of Orthodox Missiology in late XX - early XXI centuries happened mainly as an academic discipline. Along with that, results, obtained in the process of practical missionary ministry, cumulative integrated into theoretical mission studies. A gradual accumulation of empirical results took the Missiology to the qualitatively new theoretical level of research work. The need for a missiological actualization of ecclesiological problems of theology is associated with a high degree of dynamics of missionary service as going out the boundaries of the Church. In the article, the example, characterizing the specifics of the given process, is observed - actively used in this period, the concept of the missionary field, which precedes the transformation of the subject area of missionary activity in the research field of missiology. The subject-object relationship model is not applicable to missionary service, as it is implemented rather in the subject-subject paradigm. This determines the choice of the terminology of this study. The subject of the mission is expressed by the concept of the actor, and its object by the concept of the addressee of the mission, which determines the configuration of the research field of missiology.

Gerasimova A.A., Gavritskov S.A., Kagan-Rozentsveig B.L. - Use of Art Objects in Artistic Enameling in the Process of Interior Decorating pp. 8-19

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2019.5.29466

Abstract: The subject of the study is the consideration of the connection between design and arts and crafts objects, the necessity of correct organization of interior space, the creation of a specific atmosphere which will fit a worldview, social status and internal state of the consumer's personality. A clear tendency of interior transformation with the help of arts and crafts objects which combine traditional and modern view, determine the overall style of the room, and carry a special emotional load was detected. The emphasis is placed on modern enamel as a process of active renewal of one of the oldest forms of art, in which knowledge of the craft, its technical heritage and specificity are mandatory for the artist of arts and crafts. In the course of the study, general scientific methods were used, such as systematization of art criticism literature and specialized sources; synthesis and generalization in the process of comparison and integration of principles, ideas, and results of domestic and foreign studies; typological method for the analysis of objects of decorative and applied art; method of classification and method of comparisons for the consideration of objects of applied art; method of stylistic analysis for determination of the visual features of the analyzed objects. The main conclusions of the study are the establishments of the fact that in the creative process the use of enamel helps to understand and synthesize traditional technologies, artistic experience, and new stylistic trends. This approach to work in the art of enamel makes it an element of design and form, equivalent to metal. In this case, both volume-spatial objects and planar compositions cannot exist without it, since it serves as the color, conceptual or compositional dominant of the work.

Kiryukhina E.M. - Text and Visual Image in the Novel The Gathering оf Brother Hilarius by Michael Fairless pp. 42-48

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2019.5.29839

Abstract: The subject of the study is a unity of textual and visual components in the book organization space of the novel The Gathering оf Brother Hilarius by Michael Fairless. The aim of the study is to determine a connection between artistic narrative and a visual image of book illustrations of the novel (ed. 1913). In the study, a literary text of the novel, which helped the writer to represent the image of the main character and show a way of spiritual formation from a novice to the prior of the medieval monastery, is analyzed. Book illustrations, conformance, and author's discrepancies with the literary text were also examined. The methodology consists of the principles of scientific objectivity and historicism. The article uses comparative-historical, retrospective, problem-chronological, diachronic scientific methods. The novel is not translated into Russian and is not familiar to domestic researchers, illustrator Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale is little-known in Russia, so addressing to it in the context of the given problem and the author's conclusions represent the novelty of scientific research. The conclusions establish the undoubted fact of successful interaction between the work of the writer and the artist. Historical specifics were not important for the writer, but the emotional component of the text was emphasized. The artist had a more difficult task: book illustrations should be clear to the reader. Illustrations of space, clothing, household objects, everyday activities of the characters were historically accurate to the English Middle Ages everyday life. Despite the differences, coming from a specificity of visual and verbal image and author's manners, romanticized, emotionally bright book organization was created. Therefore, the original English illustrated edition of 1913 was repeatedly reprinted. The publication is a perfect example of the unity of the space of the book organization.

Startsev A.V. - A Circular Line over the Face of the Abyss... pp. 49-63

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2019.5.29620

Abstract: The subject of the research attention is the determination of a circle as a method of spatial and compositional organization of visual material. The article presents the thesis that a plastic movement, arising from the use of a rounded geometric shape in the figurative structure, determines the mechanics of visual perception. A circle, being a styling element of a composition, possesses an ability to enhance both artistic and conceptual expression of the image. The article draws attention to the priority value of the circle in the compositional construction of paintings by Raphael. The regularities of plastic construction are determined by the analytical consideration of the peculiarities of the artistic language and compositional techniques of a number of works of the Italian master. Based on the conducted research, the author comes to the conclusion that a circle, dominating in a compositional organization of the artist's works, remains spatially neutral. Architectonical use of a circle as a planar figure allows relating the art of Raphael, both with the traditions of medieval painting and with the heritage of Pietro Perugino.
