Abstract: The article consists of the two parts. The first part has a historical and philosophical nature. This part is devoted to the study of a metaphor explaining the relationship between an individual and society. The second part is psychological. This part is devote to interpretation of the metaphor through an interactionist scheme ‘culture — identity — image’.
