Spirova, E. M. Kula and Potlatch: Psychological Meaning (Sign, Symbol and Simulacrum in Jean Baudrillard’s Interpretation)

Abstract: French philosopher Jean Baudrillard pays signification attention at differentiation of the terms ‘sign’, ‘symbol’ and ‘simulacrum’. The attribute which allows to differentiate these terms is their relation to objectivity. According to the author, a sign is always objective and refers to objectivity. Symbol is objective but does not refer to objectivity. Simulacrum tears apart the connection between a sign and objectivity.
