Abstract: The article reveals the condition of the Red Army and the German Wehrmacht in the pre-war period of 1939–1941. The strengths and weaknesses of the Red Army and the German Wehrmacht, as well as the composition of the opposing factions and the plans of both parties on the eve of the war are shown in this article.
