Abstract: The article reveals the socio humanitarian and spiritually consolidating contexts of the saying ‘social welfare’. The main emphasis is placed on ontological notions defining social welfare of the modern human and modern society but not on social and economical features of wellbeing.

Abstract: The author has considered the present situation when the Orthodox Church receives many scientists, engineers and officers, i.e. people with the rational way of thinking. The author also described such peculiarities of the Modern Orthodoxy as a personal interpretation of Christian teaching, strengthening of esoteric overtones, transformation of the Orthodox society into a new type of social activity. Moreover, the author analyzed the role of Orthodoxy in solving social problems in Russia.

Abstract: At the present time both Russian and foreign philosophers speak a lot about the close connection between Christianity and socialism. Such sayings as ‘Jesus Christ is the first communist’ and ‘God told to share with others’ are quite famous nowadays. In this respect, it seems quite topical to come back to the works by a distinguished figure in Orthodoxy, John Vostorgov who was shot by Bolsheviks in 1918. A great number of his books and articles were devoted to dethronement of such stereotypes.

Abstract: Having analyzed the normative documents of state, party and Komsomol bodies as well as archive records of the State Archive of Social and Political History of Tombov region, the authors concluded there was a religious spirit rising among youth during the Great Patriotic War and the first two decades after the War. Komsomol officially fought it but was more tolerant to such spirits than in 1920-1930. Factually, Komsomol faced the two options: be with God or against God. Numerous objective and subjective factors predetermined contradiction nature of its following actions. However, all those actions were only certain stages of atheistic activity of different intensity. Under new historical conditions, Komsomol didn’t even try to come back to bellicose atheism.

Abstract: Creation of the Christian Empire by Constantine the Great was a unique historical experiment and possibly the only example of a dying leviathan ‘healing’ itself, successfully overcoming the system problems and existing thousands of years after. History does not know the more effective political system than the one practiced in Byzantium. Byzantine civilization gave unique and important contribution to history and politics. However, it did have serious shortcomings which eventually led to the fall of the empire.

Abstract: Based don the analysis of susceptibility of environmental rights of citizens and their liability to risk factors, the author suggested to add a new term ‘environmental human rights risks’ to a scientific vocabulary. The article summarizes the experience of activity by Human Rights Commissioner in the Russian Federation in the mechanism of minimization of environmental human rights risks.

Abstract: Local community is a resource of local self-government which is not realized to the right degree. Forms of direct realization of self-government by population are an effective mechanism of involving citizens into local decision making process. Evaluation of their self-organizing (synergetic) potentials allows us to assess the processes of cooperation between self-government bodies and local communities.

Abstract: The authors viewed prerequisites of formation and evolution of Slavophiles’ teaching in the context of opposition of Western and Russian Churches. The author described grounds for traditional character and conservatism of Slavophiles’ views on philosophy and politics. The author also evidently criticized the thought of quintessence of Slavophiles’ teaching (the union of liberal, conservative and social ideas).

The article contains the criticism of the theories of the social convention and natural law.
