Abstract: Irish neutrality practically does not have the famous ‘international guarantees’. However, this country has always spent less than other European neutrals on its military (about 1.3% of GDP at the present). This is due to a quite ‘safe’ geopolitical location of the ‘green island’, far from the main ‘frontal lines’.
