DOI:

Abstract: Is a pedagogue always a pedagogue? This question is not so easy as it may look at first sight. What personal and professional qualities allow us to call a person a pedagogue? Why is the aphorism that “root of learning is bitter” usually treated as truthful. Can it be questioned or the opposite proved? How to make the learning process is not difficult and tiring, but easy and joyful? The article is dedicated to pedagogue’s role in educational process. One of the reasons for students’ low motivation, their disinterestedness, unruliness, bad record and infirm knowledge and skills etc is rather low level of teacher’s pedagogical culture. It keeps him from structuring and giving the material in the right way, from making it clear and explicit, vivid and interesting, important and useful for the pupils. The article deals with the principal components of pedagogical culture, ways and means of increasing efficiency of pedagogical process on the basis of pedagogue’s personal self-perfection. As the questions raised in it are topical, it may be interesting and useful for university and college teachers both in theoretical and practical aspects.

Volkova E.G. - Principal Problems of Teaching Philosophy at Universities pp. 80-115

DOI:
10.7256/2409-8736.2015.2.14427

Abstract: At universities philosophy is studied by students of all specializations. Pedagogical practice shows that in most cases philosophy is considered to be an impenetrable, little understandable and high-flown discipline. It’s clear that such a negative attitude to philosophy which forms forever for those who studied it at an Institute is unconsciously formed by philosophy teachers who deliver lectures and give seminars the way they like, the way they are used to, the way they think right without trying to increase the level of students’ learning level and motivation. Most university philosophy teachers don’t think how to show the students that philosophy is not a high-flown wisdom but the discipline closely connected with their lives, concerns, sorrows and joys, that it can be as interesting and useful as their pastimes. The author of the article, being a philosophy teacher, makes an attempt to answer the following three fundamental questions about teaching philosophy from different aspects: What is to be taught? How to teach? Why it is necessary to teach philosophy? The questions raised by the author, his ideas and pedagogical findings can help philosophy teachers to increase students’ learning interest and change their idea of philosophy status from negative to positive thus making teaching this discipline much more effective.

Gusev D.A. - To the Question of Rhetorical Culture of a Higher School Teacher pp. 141-176

DOI:
10.7256/2409-8736.2015.2.14290

Abstract: The article is dedicated to one of the topical issues of rhetorical culture of the teacher. The degree of efficiency of educational process is largely related to the level of rhetorical culture, or the culture of public speaking in teaching. One of the main reasons for the lack of motivation of students, their disinterest and neglect, poor performance training, ill-digested knowledge, underdeveloped skills, etc. is not a high level of the culture of teacher's public speaking, which prevents him from properly building and properly applying the learning material, making it clear and intelligible, lively and interesting, meaningful and useful for students. Frequently a complex and confusing way of teaching, his inconsistency and confusion, together with the dryness and dullness is a direct consequence of the lack of adequate level of rhetorical culture of the teacher. As a result, the training becomes ineffective, difficult and thankless process both for students and for teachers. This article defines the concept of rhetorical culture, discusses its criteria, most of which are in compliance with the professional activity of the teacher of the basic public speaking law - harmonizing dialogue; and the basic principles of its implementation, including the portrait of the audience, the principle of proximity of the proposed material, the principles of specificity, clarity, correctness of the public speaking, his speech richness and expressiveness, principles of the motion, emotion, pleasure, and the main parameters of the effective techniques of speech. Due to the relevance raised in the paper it can be interesting and useful to teachers of higher and secondary educational institutions both in theoretical and in practical aspects.
