Kudryavtseva R.A. - "Sheklyanur text" in the novel by Yivan Osmin "Between Heaven and Earth" pp. 126-145

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2023.11.69118

Abstract: This article is prepared as part of the study of the actual problem of local supertext in the literature. It examines the "Sheklyanur text" of the documentary-fiction (autobiographical, memoir) novel by the Mari writer Yivan Osmin "Kava den mlande koklashte" ("Between Heaven and Earth"). The author identifies, describes and analyzes the main components of the "Sheklyanur text" (the problems tied to the Sheklyanur plot line and the Sheklyanur part of the biography of the central character acting as a narrator, the system of characters and events, descriptions, administrative and geographical realities, ethnographic scenes and details, language features), their place in the artistic structure of the novel and also highlights the historical context of the "Shakespearean text", most clearly visible in its ring composition and having a dramatic and tragic orientation. The methodological basis of the research is the historical-genetic method and the structural-semantic analysis of the work. They made it possible to identify and adequately interpret the meaningful lines of the "Shakespearean text" to the maximum extent, to describe the key elements of its poetics. Yyvan Osmin's novel "Between Heaven and Earth" for the first time in regional and Russian science has become the object of special analysis, it is studied in the context of the actual, almost unexplored in Mari philology problem of local overtext in literature. The "Sheklyanur text" of the novel is considered as a focus of information about the specific aspects of the village of Sheklyanur (as a socio-cultural space) of the mid-1930s, sustained within the framework of an artistic and documentary (memoir, autobiographical, primary) narrative. The "Sheklyanur text" is filled with memorable everyday scenes of a personal and social nature, which, together with open ethnographic elements, recreate pictures of the Mari world and some features of its manifestation in a particular place of residence of Mari. The exceptional signs of the "Shakespearean text" were the authentic names of real characters, their destinies, topographical and administrative-economic realities, lexical features of the narrator's speech.

Kudryavtseva R.A. - V. N. Berdinsky's novel "You are for me, I am for you": the poetics of psychologism pp. 153-167

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2023.5.40879

Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the poetics of the modern Mari novel in the aspect of the poetics of psychologism. The purpose of this work is to identify the main techniques of psychologism and their artistic functions in V. N. Berdinsky's novel "You are to me, I am to you". The research material was the text of V. N. Berdinsky's novel "You are for me, I am for you", as well as research about him in modern Mari literary science. The methodology of the research is determined by the structural and semantic analysis of the work, which made it possible to identify and describe in detail the conceptual, semantic and typological components of the psychological level of this novel text. The article proves that psychologism in the novel of the Mari writer manifests itself at the plot (internal plot) and character (techniques of internal characterization of characters) levels of the text, and it is also important in the context of the author's assessments of the depicted events and phenomena (improper-direct speech). Among the means of psychological characterization in Berdinsky's novel, the psychological detail plays a dominant role (external in the role of psychological and actually psychological). It is concluded that psychologism is the dominant style of V. N. Berdinsky's novel "You are to me, I am to you" and plays an important role in the formation of the author's artistic concept.

Kudryavtseva R.A. - Mari folk Songs in the Artistic Structure of S. G. Chavain's Novel "Elnet" pp. 147-175

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2023.3.39788

Abstract: The article examines the folklore intertext of the novel "Elnet" by the classic of Mari literature Sergey Grigoryevich Chavain at the level of folk songs, reveals their place in the artistic structure of the novel text, analyzes their role in revealing the people's perception of the world and the nature of the creative personality of the intellectual-Mari, in the expression of the author's ideas. The song texts of the novel, directly borrowed from folklore or reworked by the author, as well as created by Chavain himself in the likeness of the content and stylistics of folk-poetic works, give the artistic narrative romantic sublimity, poetry, drama and national specificity, strengthen the author's concept of the world and character. The methodology of the research is determined by the structural and semantic analysis of the works. The article for the first time identifies and describes in detail the semantic and typological components of the folklore-song intertext of Chavain's novel "Elnet", its significance for the expression of its artistic content. It is proved that the song texts of the novel mostly reveal the traditional cultural way of life of the Mari people, their natural existence, orientation to myths and ideals (labor songs; ritual songs: wedding, including lamentation songs; lyrical, mainly love and orphan songs). They are directly related to the national issues of the novel and the author's concept based on the uniqueness of the Mari people and their culture. A lot of space is occupied by songs that highlight the difficulties of the pre–revolutionary social life of the Mari people, the inequality of ethnonational existence, which became the reason for the formation of revolutionary predilections in the popular environment (recruiting - about seeing off to war, orphans, lamentations). This folklore intertext helps to clarify the ideological and moral quest of Mari in the pre-revolutionary era, the search for ways of social and national liberation brewing in the depths of the people.

Kudryavtseva R.A., Belyaeva T.N. - Folklore Intertext of S. G. Chavain's Novel "Elnet" (Paremiological Level) pp. 47-58

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2022.9.38803

Abstract: In the article, as part of the study of the poetics of the Mari literature, the paremiological level of the folklore intertext of the novel "Elnet" by the founder of Mari literature Sergey Grigoryevich Chavain is considered. The authors of the article identified different semantic types of proverbs and sayings in the text of the Chavain work, identified their artistic functions in the text. In this aspect, the novel creativity of the writer is being investigated for the first time. The methodology of the research is determined by the structural and semantic analysis of the works, which made it possible to identify and describe in detail the semantic and typological components of the folklore intertext of Chavain's novel "Elnet" at the paremiological level, its significance for the expression of its artistic content. The article proves that the proverbs and sayings used in the novel "Elnet" in one way or another represent the creative portrait of the founder of the Mari national literature Chavain. We are faced with a writer with a folk worldview, brought up on folk culture and in the living language of Mari folklore. The semantic component of the proverbs and sayings used by the author is an integral part of the conceptual world of the novel and the basis of the author's axiology. Forming a folklore intertext in the novel, they also influence its narrative structure, plot movement, participate in the process of creating characters, they are also important in the context of the author's assessments of the depicted events and phenomena.

Kudryavtseva R.A. - The World Topos in Terms of European Axiology of Modern Mari Poetry pp. 51-69

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2019.4.30568

Abstract: In her article, Kudryavtseva analyzes Vasily Pekteev's lyrics as part of analysis of modern Mari national poetry, in particular, poems from his poetic series 'Man from the Kingdom of Bees' (2018). Until now these poems have never been the matter of analysis. The research grounds include analysis of the artistic space of Mari poetry. The main attention is paid to the multicomponent and multi-value topos 'world' that most brightly reflect the author's artistic axiology. The methodological basis of the research involves historical typological and structured semantic analysis of works which has allowed to define and describe structural semantic levels of the 'world' topos actualizing the author axiology in Vasiliy Pekteyev's lyrics. The researcher proves that spacial elements of the 'world' topos including archetypes, fully reveal the spirit of a lyrical hero, demonstrate the writer's values and the nature of artistic axiology of modern Mari poetry. She also shows that modern Mari lyrics confirm personal freedom, life and nature beauty, creativity as well as nature-orientation and spirituality of the Mari world. Everything which is aimed at destruction and supression of the aforesaid is viewed as anti-values.

Kudryavtseva R.A. - The Theme of Bread in Terms of the Axiological Potential of Contemporary Mari and Chuvash Prose pp. 69-75

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2018.3.26942

Abstract: Within the axiological paradigm of modern literature in the Volga region, an artistic solution to the topic of bread in Mari and Chuvash prose is considered. The subject of the concrete analysis is the value nature of the image of bread in the stories of the Mari writer Yuri Artamonov “A weighty loaf” and the Chuvash writer Eva Lisina “A piece of bread”. The article reveals the value-semantic potential of the topic of bread in its universal, ethnodirectional and individual authorial expression of it; considered some aspects of the poetics of works, actualized in the framework of their axiological content. The research methodology is determined by the structural-semantic and comparative analysis of works. The results of the study can be in demand when building a modern scientific strategy of comparative literature in the Volga region and its practical implementation. It is proved that in both works an important component of the author's concept is the idea of bread as the source of life and happiness. But if, in the story of Yu. Artamonov, this thought gives rise to the image of an almost ideal hero-worker creating this value, then in the story by E. Lisina, inserted into the context of the artistic description of an absurd world, it, while retaining its moral component, is combined with a humanistic appeal.

Schabykov V.I., Kartashova E.P., Kudryavtseva R.A. - The place of Mari language within the system of communication and value interests of student youth of a polycultural city pp. 41-50

DOI:
10.25136/2409-7144.2017.7.23479

Abstract: The subject of this article is the relation of modern student youth of Yoshkar-Ola to the Mari language, as well as place of this language within the system of its communication and value interests. The task at hand is viewed with consideration of the opposition of ethnic factor inherent to the Mari El Republic (Russians, Mari, and other ethnic groups). Its relevance is associated with the need for studying the current socio-linguistic situation in the polyethnic constituents of the Russian Federation, and the place of national (regional state) languages within them. The article manifests as a generalization of results of the sociological survey “Social Portrait of Student Youth”, conducted in 2015 by the department of Sociology of the Mari Scientific Research Institute of Linguistics, Literature, and History among the students of two universities (Mari State University and Volga State University of Technology). The scientific novelty of this work consists in the applied empirical material that is introduced into the academic discourse for the first time, as well as its problematic (communicative and value components of the Mari language in perception of the modern student youth of a polycultural city) that is also being examined for the first time in the regional ethno-sociological and socio-linguistic science. Attention is centered around the following aspects of reflection of the students regarding the Mari language: educational practice (place of Mari language in the system of studying/already learnt languages), communication prospect (necessary knowledge of Mari language for future life), educational paradigm (necessary teaching in all schools of the Republic), and ethnic-value reflection (acknowledgement of Mari language as native). The article proves that the Mari language as the regional state language in a modern polycultural city Yoshkar-Ola preserves its importance, primarily within the system of communication and value interests of the Mari student youth; however, even in such environment it loses its positions, but maintains its ethnic value significance.

Kudryavtseva R.A., Schabykov V.I. - Foreign Speech Communication of Mari Youth (Sociolinguistic Aspect) pp. 120-131

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2017.2.22739

Abstract: The subject of the research is the foreign speech communication of Mari youth. The purpose of the article is to define the place of the Russian and English languages in the verbal communication of contemporary young people aged 15 - 29 years old, residing in the Republic of Mari El and identifying themselves as Mari. The rationale of the research problem is caused by the need to analyze today's sociolinguistic situation in polyethnic constituents of the Russian Federation and the role of state and foreign languages in these constituents. The topic is also important as part of studies devoted to the ethnocultural integration in a society. The empirical basis for the research is the sociolinguistic data obtained in 2012 by the Sociology Department of Mari Research Institute of Language, Literature and History named after V. Vasiliev in the process of the population survey devoted to the topic 'Linguistic Situation in the Republic of Mari El'. The research methods used by the authors include: statistical method, systematisation, analysis and generalisation. The authors have also used sociological tools such as random non-repeated quota sample, formal structured interview, etc. Sociolinguistic data used by the authros in their research are introduced in the academic literature for the first time and analyzed depending on respondents' places of residence (village/city) and educational background (secondary education/higher education or incomplete higher education). The research is focused on two questions that clarify the nature of the foreign speech communication of Mari youth. The first question is related to using non-ethnic (foreign) language in a situation of everyday communication (with their parents, hubands or wives, preschool or school age children). The second question is related to self-assessment of their verbal skills in relation to different kinds of speech activity (readiness for qualitative foreign communication). The authors of the article prove that Mari young people have a high level of linguocompetence in Russian and low level of linguocompetence in English. The Russian language is actively used by them in everyday life and often performs functions that could be performed by their ethnic language.

Schabykov V.I., Kudryavtseva R.A. - Mass media and fiction in Mari language in the information and communication environment pp. 53-60

DOI:
10.7256/2409-7144.2016.11.1905

Abstract: The subject of this article is the attitude of population of the Republic of Mari El towards mass media (TV and radio programs, newspapers, and magazines), fiction in Mari language, as well as their place within the information and communication environment of this polyethnic region in the middle of 2010’s. The problematic in hand is examined considering such factors as national affiliation, age, and place of residence of the respondents. The article represents generalization of the results of sociological survey among the residents of the Republic of Mari El, carried out in 2015 by the sociological department of Mari Language, Literature and History Scientific Research Institute named after V.M.Vasilyev on the topic “Interethnic and Interconfessional Relations in the Republic of Mari El”. The author implements the method of discourse-analysis, within the framework of which examines public consciousness of the population in its census multilayerdness.  The Mari TV and radio broadcasts, newspapers, magazines, and fiction primarily represent interest for the indigenous (Mari) population of the Republic, but such interest is not widespread; it attracts very little attention of the representatives of other nationalities. This work proves the relevance for the region of formulation of the ethnocultural and integration strategy in public consciousness that is aimed at preservation of ethnic identity through the media and fiction in native language, as well as development of bilingualism and polylingualism, particularly within the Russian, urban and youth environment.
