Boltaevskii A.A. - Aspiration for the future: city as the heart of civilization pp. 1-6

DOI:
10.7256/2310-8673.2017.1.16961

Abstract: The subject of this research is a city, which has become an integral part of everyday life, but at the same time imposes demands on the environment. Multiple researchers attempt to create a favorable image of cities of the future; however, the main challenge is so that human comfort would not harm the environment. The basic need of a modern man is the pursuit of environmental friendliness, which found reflection in the works of sociologists, philosophers, and urban planners. The concepts of E. Howard remained just a utopia, but city of the future can only be "green”. The article applies the comparative analysis, situational analysis, structuring of new concepts on the basis of the Russian and foreign sources. Urban civilization will continue to be the heart of human life. The smart technologies and interaction with biosphere will become the key components of cities of the future. It implies the use of renewable energy, advancement of public electric transport, creation of cyclist-friendly environment. The South Korea’s smartest city Songdo is chosen as a probable prototype.
Theory of architecture
Kirichkov I. - Systematization of the methods of folded morphogenesis pp. 7-15

DOI:
10.7256/2585-7789.2018.2.27890

Abstract: Despite the rapid development of research on folded morphogenesis over the few recent decades worldwide, the systematization of research methods is currently of great interest. The choice of research method directly depends in the set objective; at the same time, choice of improper method fails to demonstrate results. The study of folded morphogenesis has a number of specific features, among which is the impossibility of using classical principles, peculiarity of visual perception, incompleteness of the development process, etc. This article analyzes the method of conceptual constructs, on-site survey, comparative analysis, sociological survey, historical analysis, economic analysis, and research modeling. The goal lies in identification of advantages and disadvantages of the selected methods, their systematization and application evaluation in further research activities. It is assumed that this work will help choosing a proper method or a combination of methods. The results demonstrate that the majority of modern scholars confine themselves to using only the method of conceptual constructs, which is clearly insufficient for full implementation of the folded forms into the architecture. This author determines the following possible combinations of methods: the method of conceptual constructs and on-site surveys, method of comparative analysis and sociological survey, method of on-site survey and comparative analysis.
Modern architecture
Migas Y.A. - To the question of the problem of integration of modern and historical architecture pp. 16-25

DOI:
10.7256/2585-7789.2018.2.29306

Abstract: The subject of this article is examination of the question of interrelation between the objects of modern architecture and architecture of the previous eras within a uniform environment. The object of this article is the range of publications, mostly of the Russian scholars, as result of comprehension of the topic at hand. At the same time the author examines primarily the foreign practical experience. Particular attention is paid to a variety of problems pertinent to topic "old and new in the architecture of modern city", which is a focus of research of modern scholars. The problems of synthesis of the modern and historical architecture in uniform space are analyzed. The conclusion is made that modern researchers prefer to concentrate on the particular buildings or residential quarters, paying insufficient attention to the problem and methods of its solution in broader methodological perspective. The nolety consists in scientific actualization of the problem of integration of modern and historical architecture, determination of the urgent unexplored questions of integration of the “new” and “old” with regards to residential development in the historical environment or city-planning reconstruction.
Education methodology
Karpova M.V. - Art installation as the means of establishing interdisciplinary ties within educational process for Environment Design students pp. 26-33

DOI:
10.7256/2585-7789.2018.2.27596

Abstract: The subject of this research is the experience of introducing installations as a result of interdisciplinary interaction in the area of design education. Research is conducted on the internal ties between various subjects of the course, which play an important role in forming relevant artistic language and organization of consciences of future designers. An attempt is made to analyze and determine the areas of influence of various disciplines, as well as structuring of methodology of development of holistic image of installation as the means of synthesis of various disciplines into a single design product. The scientific novelty consists in comprehension of installation in the context of the educational process as an intersection point of various art and science. The result of this process became the synthesized creative approach, which crosses the boundaries of traditional tasks in an attempt to change the perception of the educational process into a more expressive and relevant forms of art.
Pokrovskaya N.V., Pereyatenec V.I. - The role of summer internship on specialization “Graphics” pp. 34-45

DOI:
10.7256/2585-7789.2018.2.28260

Abstract: The subject of this research is the methodology of teaching “Graphics” in the art university within the framework of summer internship. The conditions of such internship is a two-week intense educational program, based in the historical and cultural zone of a museum lasting 86 academic hours. The article describes the concept of the methods of practice goals and objectives aimed at revealing creative potential of the students within short timeframe. The research method is based on the form of interview with the Teacher of Graphics V. I. Pereyatenets, analysis and effectiveness of his methodology. The scientific novelty is structured on the selection of educational methods that consider the modern rhythms of the artistic process in order to mobilize students’ creativity. A strong factor of educational process is the teacher’s personality itself, the acquired life and creative experience, as well as pedagogical and subject knowledge. The article examines the combination of principles and approaches applied in creative practice since 1990’s. The traditional education standards in the art university are complemented with information systems that allow improving the methods, approaches and results of the students without special preliminary training. Creative thinking alongside creative discipline are cultivated in the educational process. A direct “teacher-student” dialogue, team working, presentation of creative works comprise a complex approach.
