Abstract: Television documentaries in China, especially on the largest national television channel China Central Television (CCTV), is a unique object of research reflecting a wide range of socio-cultural, political and technological aspects of the development of Chinese society. CCTV is not only an important information and entertainment source, but also a powerful tool for influencing public opinion, forming national identity and promoting public policy. The analysis of the history of the development of television documentaries in China reflects the influence of political events and socio-cultural changes on its evolution. Starting from the early stages of the development of Chinese television, when it served as a tool of state propaganda, and up to the present, when new topics and genres appeared, the study will help to understand how television documentaries have become an important element of cultural heritage and a means of public communication. The author turns to the study of the history of the CCTV channel - China Central Television, which began its development in 1958 in the context of documentaries. This channel is state-owned, which makes it under the control of the party and the government, which manifests itself in the formation of a common information policy, as well as in the direction of content development in order to comply with the official ideology and line of the party. Taking into account the leading role of the Chinese Communist Party and the centralization of the media, this study makes a definite contribution to understanding the policy of the country's leadership towards the media, and also addresses the stages of the formation of documentaries. In addition, the author draws attention to the fact that the channel makes a significant contribution to shaping the image of China as a country following socialist principles and achieving outstanding results in various fields. The article is groundbreaking, one of the first in Russian linguistics devoted to the study of such topics in the 21st century. The bibliography of the article includes 15 sources, among which exclusively domestic works. We believe that referring to the works of Chinese researchers would undoubtedly enrich the research. Unfortunately, there are no references to fundamental works, which include PhD and doctoral dissertations, monographs on the subject under consideration, which, undoubtedly, . The article will undoubtedly be useful to a wide range of people, philologists, journalists, undergraduates and graduate students of specialized universities.
