Vladimirova T.V. - On the question of correlation between the national and state security pp. 18-28

DOI:
10.7256/2409-7144.2016.6.18305

Abstract: This article suggests a theoretical-methodological instrumentarium for understanding of construct of the notion national security and analysis of correlation between the national and state security. The author notes that the question of protection of the balance of interests of an individual, society, and state comprises a substantial aspect in the problem of conceptualization of the national security. The analysis is conducted through the prism of correlation between the private interests (social group, organization, and individual as the separate social subject) and the universal interests (people, nation as an integral society and state, as well as an institute which protects these interests). The state and national security is being viewed in the context of an approach towards security as the sustainability of social order in the conditions of the growth of variability of social communication, in which the growth of variability (deviation/innovation) is expressed also in the growth of intensity of the information flow. The theoretical-methodological foundations for this research became the theory of deviation and N. Luhmann’s theory of social evolution. Special importance in ensuring national and state security belongs to the virtualization of social relations and development of the network communication cyberspace. The Internet network as a structure of acquirement and acceleration of realization of private interests (deviation/innovation) allows preserving the balance of safety of the private and universal interests. On the other hand, the security threats within the Network are constantly growing.

Vladimirova T.V. - The Growth in the Intensity of Social Information Exchange and Peculiarities of Contemporary Social Practices

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0757.2015.2.12205

Abstract: Analysts and philosophers talk about the shrinkage of the social space and time. In her article Vladimirova views social communication and social information as a form and content of the informational aspect of social interaction. There is a growing number of evolutionary variation and selection mechanisms that have proved to be effective or socially adjustable. This makes the social evolution even faster (Niklas Luhmann). Social practices of the post-modern age acquire completely different characteristics. The research subject is the peculiarities of social practices caused by the growth in the intensity of social information exchange. Theoretical and methodological grounds of the research include Niklas Luhmann's neoclassical evolution theory, Jean Baudrillard's concept of simulation, V. Kemerov's concept of sociality, D. Ivanov's, Aleksey Losev's, Zygmunt Bauman's and Manuel Castells' ideas. Vladimirova also notes that the following peculiarities of social practices result from the growth in the intensity of information flows: risk and uncertainty, distance and abstraction. Networks define peculiarities of the contemporary practice  under the conditions of information flows. As an instrumental activity, network allows to develop different schemes of numerous relations and connections.  Vladimirova offers a hypothesis that evoluation of the social activity or practice involves the birth, development and potential death of some 'rational sociality' that is based on the increase of the information flow. Social practice has the following forms of sociality: absolute sociality (institutions), relative sociality (networks), situational and local sociality (particular interactions) and altersociality (space of flows) (D. Ivanov). On the other hand, Losev's perception of the 'name of a thing' as a piece of information is based on different features of the intensity of the information process that can be referred to absolute, relative, situational sociality and altersociality. Noteworthy, that one of the peculiarities of contemporary social practices is the colonization of the social relations by particular worldviews and patterns (Zygmunt Bauman) and orientation at 'network-based ahistoric space of flows' to the disadvantage of sustainability of social cultural codes (Manuel Castells).

Vladimirova T.V. - Network Practice of Information Security

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0684.2015.2.14279

Abstract: The subject of the proposed study is the description of the social network of practices aimed at ensuring security in the Internet environment. The author examines several aspects of the activity of subjects in the safety set by the nature of social communication in cyberspace and network, streaming the organization of the virtual space of the Internet. Risks and threats in the Network formed by the presence/absence information and the increasing rate of obsolescence information. Social actors produce all new practices to protect the interests and security, including in the virtual reality of cyberspace. These practices are associated with information security and protection of information, and facilitate orientation in the information space Network, with the aim of obtaining new information. The theoretic-methodological basis of research is the socio-philosophical and sociological theory. The author refers to the ideas of Maltsev, Nazarchuk, Ivanov and others. In her research Vladimirova has used the network and information approaches. The novelty of the research is caused by the fact that the author has identified the specific social practices of security on the Internet. The formation of personal micro-networks, clonable cell network and their ability to high variability are peculiarities of network security practices. Practices of cultivation of "temporal gaps" and / or "bridge gaps" are also viewed as a tool of information security and protection of information. Standard practices of Internet safety today are "risk taking" and "comfortable anomie" which only encourage further multiplication of threats to information security.

Vladimirova T.V. - On guaranteeing information security in the cyber-space. pp. 132-157

DOI:
10.7256/2306-0417.2014.3.12525

Abstract: Growing intentsity of information streams and the fast outdating of the information form new threats and challenges, whie multiplying the existing ones. The risks and threats are formed by the presence/absence of the information  and growing speed of outdating of the information. The society and its subjects form new social practices for self-preservation, including those in the virtual cyber-space. Such social practices are called network practices of information security guarantees. Their specificities form the object of the said study. The studies of the network information security practices are related to the analysis of the networ character of modern communications, analysis of the social networks, network principle of organization of the cyber-space. It includes the problem of information security guarantees through the prism of virtualization of social processes.  The author also uses the theory of network socialization, demonstrating the links between the social practices and communications in the conditions of various intensity of social interaction. Novelty of the study is due to uncovering the specificities of the security practices in the Internet. The security practices in the Internet are defined by their functional meaning, and not by the place, where the actors are situated.  The normal social practice involves formation of personal micro-networks. The security practices are due to the cloning quality of the elements of network and their variability.  Various forms of limiting social areas in the Web provide for various security practices, which correspond to the institutional space, areas of private and situative interaction, sphere of social network with its "relative sociality" and the "anti-social" streams (D.V. Ivanov). Information security may be guaranteed with the practices of cultivating the "temporal gaps" and (or) practices of "overcoming the gaps" in information protection and protection from the information. Normal security practices include "freedom of risk" and "comfortable security". Cyberspace is regarded as an area for "comforable anomia", where comfort is guaranteed by peace and security of the body, anonimity of the subject.  The situation of "confortable anomia" of the actor causes excess of information and growth of the "rapture"  between virtual and actual  matters, influencing the relative character of the network security practices. Network information security practices are due to the "burden of mobility". As a theoretical and methodological perspective for the studies of the term, the information security is interpreted as speed, knowledge and game, where game is protection of information and protection from the information.

Vladimirova T.V. - On an unified approach towards understanding information security guarantees. pp. 111-127

DOI:
10.7256/2306-0417.2014.2.11811

Abstract: Various approaches and study directions in the sphere of information security guarantees may be viewed through an unified methodological approach in the terms of social philosophical theory. Such an operation shall facilitate the further development of understanding of the social nature of the term.  We related information security guarantees to the understanding and administration of certain modern social practices, allowing to keep the information streams adequate to the world around both for the individuals and for the social systems, therefore, allowing for sustainability and comprehensive character of the situation for both an individual and a system in the situation of growing deviation/innovation as variative communications expressed by the growing intensity of information streams. Theoretical and methodological bases for the studies include sociological theories of A. Giddens, M. Castells, J. Urry. The author used the works of the Russian scientists in the sphere of information security guarantees. It is noted that information security guarantees are formed with the social practices and social structures. The said approach allows to develop the understanding of social aspects of information security, to see the specific features of security guarantee practices, to reveal the contradiction between the local structures and stream and network character of the information threats.  It is noted that the high intensity of communication of mobility practices is possible in the sphere of security guarantees thanks to security privatization.

Vladimirova T.V. - Intensity of Communications in Practices of New Mobility and Information Security pp. 89-111

DOI:
10.7256/2306-0158.2014.1.10918

Abstract: The subject matter of research is the intensity of communications as the information security criterion. Information security means assurance of safety of social practices in the information environment through creating new mobilities and orientations in the network space in the age of growing intensity of information traffic and data deterioration. This approach to the definition of information security creates the social exterior outline of the term and at the same time retains the traditional, more technical definition of information security as the process of 'protection of information and protection against information'. Theoretical and methodological grounds of research include social, philosophical and social-science theories. In particular, the author uses ideas offered by V. Muraviev, A. Toffler, Z. Bauman, J. Urry's social mobility and etc. The author also appeals to the ideas of Russian scientists who also studied the problem of information security. It is the author's opinion that the most important aspect of new social mobilities as practices of information security is the high intensity of communications expressed in the rate and diversity of interactions. Temporal features of social practices have a direct attitude to information security. Actors of the process (people of the past, present and future, human of space and human of time) relfect different intensity of information interaction with the word. The higher the level of communication intensity of an actor is (i.e. speed and variety), the more protected his practices are in the age of growing intensity of information traffic and data deterioration.

Vladimirova T.V. - On the value of new mobilities for security. pp. 9-23

DOI:
10.7256/2306-0417.2014.1.11164

Abstract: The article concerns new social mobilities within the framework of information security guarantees as practices.  A social subject guaranteeing information security, is the subject, who on one hand provides protection of information and protection from information, and on the other hand he  develops orientation in the outer information environment, since his resources should be renewed in  the conditions of mobile social environment. At the same time renewing information resources of a subject takes place with growing intensity according to the growth of intensity of information streams, which, in turns leads to more and more outdated information.  In such a condition mobility practices may be interpreted as security practices.  Theoretical and methodological basis for the studies includes social, philosophical and sociological theories. In particular, the ideas of mobility sociology by John Urry, the theory of object-centered sociality of Karin Knorr Cetina. The new mobility practices, which now form network and stream morphology of the social world are viewed by the author as general practices of information security guarantees.  The idea of their organization is partially revealed through the term of channels, tunnels and streams (J. Urry). The author notes that  the new mobilities need to be understood and used as practices of information security guarantees for national forces in the condition of growth of streams and networks.  The substantial aspect of the new mobilities is high intensity of communications, as expressed by the speed and variety of interactions.  It is noted that a characteristic features of new mobilities is objectivation of relations or the appearance of the object-centered sociality (K. Knorr Cetina).

Vladimirova T.V. - On the social nature of the term "information security" pp. 78-95

DOI:
10.7256/2306-0417.2013.4.596

Abstract: The author connects the topicality of defining information security with the specific features of modernity.  On one hand, the author analyzes the traditional definitions of information security. On the other hand, she evaluates the security challenges in the modern society through the prism of growing intensity of information streams and outdating information. The author offers to develop the understanding of information security from the standpoint of sociological knowledge.  She provides an approach towards structuring the information environment as well as to the attitude towards information security in its broad and narrow meanings.  In the broad sense information security of a subject is regarded as security in the conditions of actual social reality (in the conditions of real society). In the narrow sense information security provides guarantees of social practices in the information environment in the conditions of growing intensity of information streams and outdating information

DOI:

Abstract: The article provides an approach towards the problem of security in a society, allowing for two types of organization and understanding of security. Security is understood as  a sustainable social order in the conditions of growing number of various deviations. On one hand, the traditional society forms a view of security, which is based upon sustainable system of values, traditional institutions and state power.  On the other hand, the security should be guaranteed within the framework of open modern society, where a growing number of social deviations and innovations forms a complicated highly organized security system, including rule of law state, private property, market, and civil society.  The author discusses the problem of sustainable social order in the conditions of approved and non-approved deviation, where an approved deviation is regarded as an innovation. Then the author points out the further growth of deviations/innovations (variable communications in accordance with   N.Luhmann in the modern state as a key problem in the sphere of public security guarantees.
