Manchurina L.E., Ivanova S.V. - The stylistics of verbal predicate in Yakut language: colloquial style pp. 43-52

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0749.2020.3.29609

Abstract: This article is dedicated to the currently relevant within Yakut linguistics problem of language and speech normalization of functional styles. An attempt is made to reveal the linguistics peculiarities of the colloquial style of Yakut language through the prism of verbal predicate as one of the key components in a sentence. As a result of semantic-stylistic and statistics-linguistics analysis of verbal predicate in the colloquial style, the author identifies its qualitative and quantitative characteristics. Special attention is turned to the intercalation changes of verbal predicates in colloquial style that take place under the influence of Russian language. The article determines frequency of the use of forms of verbal predicates in literary style, which allowed to objectively assess indicators that were revealed by means of application of the semantic-stylistic method. Functionality of verbal predicates in colloquial style is defined by their lexical-semantic meanings, structural-semantic parameters and means of expression, as well as utilization and prevalence of certain verbal predicates in colloquial style is substantiated by extralinguistic specificities of this speech style. At the initial stages of normalization process of functional styles of Yakut language, it is important to give an objective assessment to the ongoing within colloquial style intercalation changes under the influence of Russian language by determining its negative and potentially positive aspects.

Ivanova S.V., Manchurina L.E. - Functionality of verbal predicate in the literary style of Yakut language pp. 204-213

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2019.6.29543

Abstract: This article conducts the semantic-stylistic and stylistic-statistical analysis of verbal predicates functioning in the literary speech of Yakut language.  The authors examine the rich language of fiction literature as one of the varieties of functional style, which suggest comparative study of its language with the language of other styles of speech. The results of analysis are reflected in the lexical-semantic and grammatical-semantic characteristics of verbal predicates as one of the principal parts of the sentence defining symmetry of the grammatical modes specific for literary style. The author also determines quantitative indicators of verbal predicates of literary style closely interlinked with their qualitative characteristics. The article detects frequency of using the forms of verbal predicates in literary style, which allows objectively assessing the indicators identified through the semantic-stylistic method. Comparative method contributes to determination of stylistic distinctness of literary style in relation to other styles. Functionality of verbal predicate in the literary style depends on grammatical semantics of certain verbal forms, as well as lexical-semantic nature of separate verbal predicates. Absolute dominance in quantitative terms of analytical forms of compound predicate expressed in the form of past tense and mode is established. The stylistic power of analytical forms of compound predicate consists in their semantic nature, which suggests the diversity of syntactic means values of the Yakut language.

Ivanova S.V. - Stylistic Use of Verbal Predicate Tenses in the Yakut Language pp. 11-19

DOI:
10.25136/2409-8698.2019.1.28694

Abstract: The subject of the research is the stylistic peculiarities of verbal predicate tenses in the Yakut language. Today it is an important task to study stylistics issues in order to develop and codify stylistic standards of modern Yakut and achieve application targets under the current conditions. Considering that the syntax of the Yakut language has a remarkably rich and varied set of stylistic tools, the analysis of verbal predicate tenses allows to reveal the main stylistic possibilities of a sentence. Based on the vast actual material, the author of the article describes stylistic features and expressive possibilities of verbal predicate. As a result of the analysis, the author provides a lexical semantic and grammatical semantic description of verbal predicate tenses specific for the conversational, creative writing and journalistic styles. Moreover, the author also defines quantitative indicators of verbal predicates in the conversational, literary and journalistic speech. Semantic stylistic and stylistic analysis involves verbal predicates in the tenses usually used by Yakuts in their conversational, literary and journalistic speech. Rich synonymy of verbal predicate tenses demonstrates a high level of the development and great possibilities of the Yakut syntax. The author underlines that it is important for the Yakuts to apply verbal tenses of different stylistic and expressive meaning in order to preserve or restore the tradition of their native language and to enrich the vocabulary of the younger generation.
