This academic quarterly online open-acces rievew is devoted to Arctic and Antarctic researches studying climate, relief, soils, permafrost, exogenous processes in the cryolithozone, glaciers, snow, natural resources. Authors of the review conduct empirical studies in seas and oceans, coastal zones, atmosphere, cryosphere and the animal world in order to asses the influence of human activity in these regions.

The journal systematically publishes reviews of monographs and textbooks. There is an independent publishing Institute of scientific peer review. Each article undergoes a "double-blind peer review".

The journal assigns to all published articles an international universal identification number DOI of the CrossRef system,

The publication is included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) and is registered in the Scientific Electronic Library (NEB).
