Abstract: This article examines the creative path of one of the prominent institutors of architectural activity in Soviet Siberia – Krasnoyarsk architect, urban planner, scientist, and publicist E. M. Panov. The subject of this research is the project and scientific works of the master viewed from the two perspectives (1) through studying the content of the author’s personal project method manifested in city-planning and architectural strategies, and (2) through the author’s interpretation of the works of other architects presented in the books, articles, analytical texts, graphic images. The works of E. M. Panov as a practical and cogitating architect-researcher is demonstrated by the combination of two aspects of his creativity – engineering and researching. The architectural and city-planning legacy of E. M. Panov – a prominent representative of the generation of Soviet architects of Siberia of the late XX century – testifies to the relevance of national architecture in the post-classical era, which is the time of Soviet modernism with broad arsenal of professional methods, developed by the academic schools of the past – the main compositional means, techniques of rhythmic-metrical relations, and artistic abilities of transmitting the conceptual visions.
